Hello, preppers. My first post, and I hope it's of interest for some of you. I never knew anything about wood gas generators and that they can power a vehicle until I discovered my son building one (a story for another time).
But today, I tripped across an interesting report titled "Construction of a Simplified Wood Gas Generator for Fueling Internal Combustion Engines in a Petroleum Emergency, Final Report" done for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) published in 1989. Here's the link: http://onestrawrob.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/femawoodgas.pdf Is there a file repository on this forum? Be nice to save a copy for members & other prepper groups to have access to.
I skimmed through & see that it seems to even provide photos, diagrams, material lists/pics and even trouble-shooting info. I love smart/practical solutions, and particularly like that the parts seemed to be things you could scavenge (paint pails, metal garbage pail, hardware, etc.)
Has anyone in the group ever built one?
Warm regards,
Karen D.
Gosh Karen, Welcome & Thankyou! This is something well worthwhile. The only times I've come across this before are on one episode of Doomsday Preppers, and coincidentally, just yesterday when I received an e-mail from the American Preppers Network, there was a picture of one taken at a Prepper Trade Show kinda deal.
I haven't looked at your link yet, but intend to & will print it off as well.
