Any one paying attention to this? they explain it as noise caused by the northern lights... if thats true it seems strang as we are coming up on a solar maximum due..... you guessed it dec. 21 2012... As you know or it you didnt the northern lights are caused by radiation from the sun rebounding off the atmosphere. I might be crazy but if it walks like a duck ad quacks like a duck... http://www.movieviral.com/2012/01/27/strange-noises-heard-around-the-world-could-have-scientific-explanation/

Im not trying to prove anyting or dec 21 2012 is the end of the world, im just keeping an eye out and an ear to the ground. what d you guys think?

One year, lets just say a few years back... the northern lights woke us up. They hummed, and lit up the entire acreage all the way back to the townline road. It was like green daylight.

This time around though, it was the Windigo. The mainstream news won't report that though. 🙂

Normally easier to see them in the winter, Jan/Feb/March
I have seen them as low as Winnipeg, so about Midland and Huntsville in Ontario. You need to be out in the bush with no city lights around if your that far south. The best thing about Op was watching the Northern Lights, so beautiful it takes your breath away. Well that and the minus 30-50 Celsius as well!

http://www.spaceweather.com/ tells you about the sun spots and explosions on the sun, meteors, satellite re-entries and is updated as needed. You can also get alerts for the northern lights, as well as satellite flybys on there. We see the ISS several times a year out in our driveway just from checking the site.

The lights are incredible I was lucky enough as a kid for a few years to be far enough north that they were a regular occurrence.

Having lived in both Yellowknife NWT and Iqaluit NU for a number of years, i have seen some very amazing Northern Lights, I can't say I have ever heard them, but I have seen them in a number of different colors and so low that you feel like you could reach out and touch them at times. Where I live now, the odd time you can see a few green ones now an again.

Never heard them but I've seen them on Lake Cameron/ Fenelon Falls, while fishing over the summer back in the 70s. Greens and blues...very cool.
