Hey all,

Not sure if you keep your eyes on GCSURPLUS but this was just listed on the National Capital Region

https://www.gcsurplus.ca/mn-eng.cfm?snc=wfsav&sc=enc-bid&scn=173415&lcn=318764&lct=L&srchtype=&lci=&str=41&ltnf=1&frmsr=1&sf=ferm-clos

If you need a great shelter for as low as -40 C, this would probably do well for you.

It looks like they are missing the liner, which looks like aluminium bubble wrap. I've spent a bit of time living in one of those in PLUS 40. There were 2 AC units installed to keep it cool so some kind of heating system would be required in cooler weather though I don't think they have a chimney port.

I like it. I was thinking that a fella could make a similar type tent if he started with a car port tent (crappy tire $200) and used bubble wrap inside. You could even sew in a door as they have too. Wouldn't be the quality of that one but would be better than most tents you buy. And a guy could then easily double the square footage by adding another to the end if need be...just more random thought!

Knuckle : I found the quality of the frame on the car port shelters (I grew up in Quebec, where it seems to be a ritual to put those up every fall...) to be pretty awful. It is not unusual to find one collapsed or blown across the yard. The weather even tent listed here is quite solid. They survive arctic blizzards and I've been inside one during a sandstorm without fear that it would collapse on me.

I think this is one of those cases of you get what you pay for...

So Odmott, you're going to have to tell us how much you paid for it 😉

lol I didn't even bid. I was gifted 2 military grade 4 season shelters and our BOL already has a permanent structure. So i don't need any more clutter.

Just thought i'd share here and let some others take advantage of a potential deal.
