No.I had known about the Prepper Network for some time but had never taken advantage of it. Charley Hogwood mentioned it during his presentation and that peeked my interest.

Aw that was sweet of Charley. He was good enough to spent over an hour talking to me at the CPN booth. For those that do not know (and I didn't until he came over to introduce himself) he is the chief instructor (founder too I think) of P.R.E.P. http://readygoprep.com/website/ He is also an author http://www.amazon.com/Charley-Hogwood/e/B00GFTDHDC

He is hoping to put something together for us Canadians in the next while.

Funny that venue food was mentioned..I would love to see purslane and jerky offered too, but I wouldn't expect it from the on-site catering which is usually junk food. ...I brought my own little stash of food and water (partly since I am an ovolacto vegetarian and can't assume I'll find something edible everywhere I go). Don't most preppers do that?.. 🙂 I walked to/from the b&b I stayed at.

I thought for a first year it was pretty good. I talked to most of the vendors and tried the archery and airsoft. I was pretty much done after the Saturday but the seminars were great. One was basically a book pitch but the rest were useful. The one suggestion would be if the vendors offering freeze dried foods could offer little samples of their products, reconstituted. Then ppl might be willing to buy a larger quantity there instead of trying it out at home the having to pay for shipping for an online order. I was also able to get a few things there that you cannot have shipped, due to import or postal safety restrictions, so I was happy about that. All in all, I thought everyone was very friendly and willing to share information and ideas, even in the case where I could not use their services if I was not local.

Enjoyed meeting some of you again and others anew....at the pre-meal and at the expo.
Made it to the rocketstove display/talk to meet Andrew for the second time. I think we'll see more of each other in future...custom designing for the future ecovillage dwellings.

I like the idea of an optional mutual identifier, and would have liked to meet others in person too.

I made it obvious where i was , on sunday at least, with my ecovillage printed on my T shirt.

Thanks to all who made the event possible!

I have a suggestion for next year. Okay, this is only because I'm cheap and am always looking for a freebee, lol.

How about door prizes. You know something one or more of the exhibitors could throw in like one of their books, a knife or a small essential oil kit or something the Management of the Expo purchase and provide like a Bug out bag, Silver fire scout stove, Humvee. That kind of thing.

Hey, it's just a suggestion. I'd love to win that Humvee.

They did have door prizes. The first 100 people each day got a survival tool with there being a "grand" door prize each day as well. On the Saturday, people were lined up at 7:45 (an hour before the show was to start). The first 100 people had gone through by 9:20.

I guess I didn't get out of bed early enough. Thanks for pointing that out.

Sorry I just thought people knew. Next year I will make a point of letting people know ahead of time.

So... I am crediting the Survival Expo for exposing me to shooting again..although it was only airsoft with the Niagara Quartermasters. It was such a thrill (not politically correct I know haha), but hey I rarely do anything for thrills, as these days I am FAR too practical in everything else. I shot a rifle in my teens a few times, with some military friends, in the boonies of rural Alberta. Later in my teens, I decided not to advance after basic training because I didn't like holding a gun. My, how things change!

Anyhow, I thought I would learn a new survival skill, so today I signed up for my rifle firearms course and joined the gun club in my city. Woohoo!! 😀 😀 😀 😀

I think oldschool did a great job helping at the expo with all the other volunteers.

It was really nice to see so many people from across the USA and Canada. I met people from Michigan, Oklahoma, Georgia and Calgary...including many from Quebec and Ontario.
The food was limited because of the convention center rules for food....ie they had to supply it.

The date for the next expo is looking to be in sometime in early May. Fingers Crossed!

I'm looking into getting a booth for the 2016 show. Looking forward to meeting forum members and possibly a few drinks after the show!

Awesome! Has there been any word about when it's going to be held? I know it's being held at the CNE this year in Toronto, no word on a date yet.
