debt always bugged me, my banker hated that i'd turn down loans and line of credits, over drafts etc. lowered my credit card limit etc.
i make good money, and when i moved to the farm i took extra debt on, and it worked out while the place was rented but fixing damage, repainting, clean and turn over hurt. tried to sell and that took too long and cost a lot of time and money for the renos. then . . . i'm not sure exactly what happened, but my debt started to climb and things started to get worse. it seemed i was working more and it didn't matter. after me and meg broke up (lived together for 10 years) i had to pay her out, keep all the debt and she lived her for 6 months without paying towards the utilities ) after she was gone and my monthly payments were pretty solid, i just worked to pay for things. but that's all i did was work. my new job gave me extra money (i make 10% vacation pay out, and 9% in lieu of benefits, plus i don't buy the benefits at $1200 plus) sooooo things were a little better saying after to work all the time. when OT came around i had more it was great, but never free time. this is going to be huge for me.
mortgage 365 less every two weeks
insurance 90 less a month
hydro 50 less a month
gas 900 less a year
water/sewage is 65 a month just to have the account, using water makes bill go up 150/month
water heater rental is 25/month (when i first got there is was like 9/month and there was no worries about it. . . price climbed fast)
this money is rolling over to debt and it'll be paid off by the end of the year . . . that's another 440 ever two weeks not going to bills.

Cycled my gas cans through the car, truck, lawn tractor, etc... so I have ~100L of fresh, ethanol-free, Stab-il added gas.
Went trough the truck’s “go gear” and change clothes, switch boots. Cycled bottled water and changed batteries for flashlights. Realized my protein bars were expired by about 1yr so time to change (1yr passed the “best before date” that is...).
A lot of work that stuff Helicopilot. Fees good once it's done
Lets see.. Last weekend we cross fenced off a section of our big pasture with plans to turn it into a mix of hay pasture and rotational grazing.
This weekend I will start Teaching my new horse how to drive on harness and learn how to haul equipment behind for in this case spreading manure. My other boy is trained already but need to break the new horse to harness first and then cart next
Starting to plant round two of our gardens.. and also seeding out a good size garden into beet, turnip, and raddish fodder plants for fall-winter feeding for the sheep flock. Will be harvesting and drying a good amount of Tree Hay this weekend if the heat holds without the storms but I will so take the rain if I can get it. Battle Wild Parsnip and Goutweed 🙂
Harvested another 100 pounds of rhubarb today and 36 pounds of strawberries that will need to be processed today yet. Picked up a extra couple hundred pounds worth of fodder grains (which are also able to be used for human use if needed) which will rotate out from my older storage whole sprouting grains.
Need to spend some time cutting up sheep's tag wool to be used in the garden soil (it holds water and does a slow release of minerals to the plants) and then process the good wool for use as insulation.

Somehow, Mrs HP (who isn’t much into guns) inherited 4 long guns. A practically brand new scoped 10/22, an older Mossberg 500 in decent condition, a well worn Enfield and a Rem 244. Now where the heck do I find 244 ammo? I understand this is 6mm but because it isn’t stamped as 6mm, it may not work well (kinda the 5.56 vs .223 and 7.62 vs .308 arguments). Can a gun guru chime in? Wayne???
Congratulations Entropy! It looks good on ya. $20K is always a pleasant surprise... Have a great long weekend!

HP, give us some details on the Enfield please.
You can shoot 6mm Rem in the 244. https://gundigest.com/gear-ammo/reloading/6mm-244-remington
Try SFRC for online purchase.
I’ll take pics when I get a chance. I’ll also read the fun digest article... thanks

Sorry that I didnt see your post before now. In 1963 the 244 Remington was renamed the 6mm Remington. Ammunition is widely available and they are virtually the same thing (just a manufacturer name change). There are differences however between the 6mm Remington and the 6mm Creedmore, but thats another story...
Congratulations on your new rifles!

Thank you Wayne and Scrounger for the replies!
HP, highly recommend you pick up a copy of Cartridges of the World. Excellent reference book.
found this video while cooking dinner one night lol. i checked out the site and wanted the katanaboy, but couldn't justify the cost. but i did buy the smaller bigboy 2000 talked about at the end of the video. i had some trimming to do, and damn it's a 1000% awesome. i'll be removing a lot of trees this fall, as i'm putting in many fruit trees next year, so this will get lots of work for taking smaller branches off for the fire pit (the chain saw will be doing the bulk of the work)
and the HOUSE CLOSED TODAY! i'm no longer a landlord and damn more of my pay is MY PAY!

So busy these days between work and acreage chores!!
I’ve managed to get a small garden going this year but I started WAY later than I should have due to job oversea. I’ve built a second small A frame coop to sufficiently mature chicks in before I move them with the rest of the ladies. Speaking of which, I’ve added 4 more new hens yesterday.
Expanding my knowledge of permaculture with a view of further developing the acreage over the next couple of years. I want to add more perennials, shrubs and fruit trees around the property. I’ve been work8ng with a consultant/designer for the last couple of weeks and should get a proposal by the end of the week.
I’ve picked up a small electric pump during a routing “pilgrimage” to Princess Auto. That way I can boost the pressure to pump the water out of my 3 x 1000L IBC rain totes to water the garden a couple 100’ away or to fight a grass fire or something.
my garden is on the lower part of the property and the water tanks are on the highest 🙂 but it's not a massive height, so while the flow isn't bad, it's not great for spraying water any distance. i have a couple 12V RV water pumps that would really make this better. i never really thought about using them for that.
