If I'm not mistaken, iron oxide hand warmers are the same material, and work the same, except bigger, cheaper and easier to find.

Oxygen absorbers from the LDS storage house are only 0.10 each. a bag of 100 is $10 that will do, 100 buckets of food, i like to put 3 in each bucket for over kill, that's still 33 buckets! handwarms aren't that cheap.
