Greetings all! I used to live a stones throw away from an army surplus in Larose Forest but it seems to have closed. I need to find a place in Ottawa that is similar to it. Does anyone know if there are any?
don't no one in Ottawa, but there is one in Kingston. http://www.sasonline.ca/
Around Ottawa the pickings are slim. Honest John's in Pembroke is no longer there, Sir Plus on Industrial Ave...gone. There is a paintball kinda place still in Ottawa but it's kinda expensive, poor quality 'army surplus' and geared more towards the airsoft commando crew. Brockville has one on the main drag...older gear, decent prices but limited selection. I've been to Kingston alot this summer and haven't checked out the 'bricks and mortar' stores there...yet 😳 My surplus needs have been pretty much filled as to backpack, a couple of pouches, great US issue poncho(over 15 years of regular use and still keeps me dry..ish) Most of my stuff was purchased at the places no longer open...New surplus is hard to find and looks like it may be that way for a while. Glad I bought mine 'back in the day'.
Brockville Army Surplus (King St.) does have a pretty limited selection; on the up side he tends to cut deals with you the more you buy which improves on his prices in a way that isn't advertised... Kingston is slightly bigger but more pricey. Sir Plus was a nice place, too bad it's gone 🙁 . Jasper Army Surplus is long gone. I would love to see a decently stocked surplus/survival/camping store open up in this area. :geek:

Timberwolf, Jasper Army Surplus is as much missed as the Jasper Hotel...still makes my liver quiver at times 😉 There was a store in Perth called Benny K's a long time ago. He sold a lot of M1's and Lee Enfields out of there and I recall the surplus was mostly WWII to early 70's vintage.
'Net shopping for surplus needs is 'handy', but there is still the nostalgia factor of entering a store...and easier to haggle too!! 😆
Take 'er easy, eh.
Hi there. If your looking for militarily trucks, trailers and water tanks etc there is a guy on hwy 29 between Almonte and Carleton place.
Here are a few places I found doing an online search.
I have been in to JT's Military Surplus Sales, honestly it's small and mostly paintball, not military surplus. Full Spectrum Gear by all online appearances looks like a good place; being that close to the base that isn't too surprising I guess. Now at 2 1/2 hrs. away it isn't exactly local but might be worth the trip; looks like a decent site so you can see if they have what you're looking for (bad sites are just bad for business 😉 )

SAS in Kingston isn't that good when it comes to selection. Its seems they deal alot in Chinese knock off knives and gear that has been BEAT HARD. Most of the stuff they have is way over priced for the condition and what it actually is! If you are in Ottawa then Bradley s in NY is a good spot to check out if you ever cross the border. Being in Kingston I rather spend the $30 in gas and take the ride then shop at SAS. It is about 45 to an hour from Kingston if the border isn't backed up so if you ever go down for anything else swing by it.
Here is Bradleys website
