I chat with a lot of people on line and there seem to be a question that comes up often and that is were is the safest place on Earth to live. This would seem important if you are prepping, for what ever reason. The question also comes up with talk of "2012" , "end of times", "economy breakdown", and so on and any other ideas out there floating around. Now I don't personal think the Earth is going to end as we know it come dec 21 2012, I do think global warming is a bunch of bull shit, not being man made, but do believe it is happening but it ant us, just something the inter solar system gos through. So that said, there are places on this earth were its not going to be very nice to live, grow food, maybe be flooding or extreme weather for a given area. So I'm asking what do you think is the safest place on Earth. Here is what I call a nut bar, a web site to a person who thinks where i live is really good, so I wouldn't right that person off just yet. If there right were I am in eastern Ontario is looking good, if the shit hits the fan, as they say. but I also say, you never know. keep an open mine.

newfoundland and prince edward island would seem pretty safe to me Beth. Newfoundland offers isolation and an abundance of fish and game, its setback is that agriculturally it is poor. PEI is isolated more or less and has strong agriculture and fishing, but not as large an abundance of game. That aside, I think Atlantic Canadians show exceptional resilience and help each other in times of trouble, although it seems that those qualities are less so around urban centers. Just my opinion 🙂
I think anywhere in Canada is safe so long as it is over 200k+ from the border. No offence to the USers, but they are not likely to travel farther than 200+k from the border in a drastic situation. Also in the 200 range is the most Sheapple in Canada, the ones North of there tend to be better prepared and just think better than the lower half.
In the next year, I will be transitioning fully out of the lower 200k range, just tired of the stupidity and rudeness down-here.
I love the North Country from New Brunswick over to BC (prairies are too flat for me but lovely actually) My best guess would be Northern Ontario, BC and Quebec. Most of New Brunswick, but the islands, the winters are too hard for modern people if no electricity or fuel oil. Soil is not that great and the other countries have cleared all the fish out with no thought for the future.
jmho
The sad reality is that there is no place on Earth that is truly "SAFE" . The place that you are the most familiar is likely the place that is the safest for you. Your home. The only situation that would have me leave my home would be a nuclear event at one of the 2 Nuclear Power Stations, if that happens we have a choice of 2 Bug-Out sites North of here.
Radiation from Fukishima is microwaving BC and Alaska and its carried in the currents of the atmosphere so if you look at a map of north america air current patterns you can see where "The Safe" places are....PS safe is as far away from stupid people as possible,Im sorry to say, theres not many safe places but I hear Coasta Rica is "Awesome" and they dont have an army ....I think that and huge fruit trees and 110 in the shade is great too....
The northern half of Alberta is pretty safe. No earthquakes at all here. No volcanoes to worry about. We have hundreds of miles of mountains between us and the nearest ocean, so no tsunamis. Lots of forest and wild game. Good farmland. Nothing nearby worth nuking and no nuclear power plants. Our rural population is well spread out and when you get away from the cities, not so many stupid people.
Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.
....same here....Ontario, south side of the lake.
"I think that I am very reasonable therefore ......." ICRCC
Well....surprisingly the Hamilton area should be a hub of commerce according to that site...guess I'm in a pretty good area.
I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband
LGClement has it right the safest place is the place you know. Im from the north part of ontario and if anything happens I will be headdding there.
:twisted:I`m not carzy everyone else is!
Hope you don't mind a westcoaster butting in on the Ontario section of the forum, but this topic has got me thinking (and it is about the safest place on Earth)... 🙂
Logically I know it's not here, in Victoria, on Vancouver Island, BC. We're due for a 9+ mega thrust earthquake and all that. I have over the years thought about moving away, north central BC looks good. But, home is home. Family, friends, and all that mushy stuff.
I checked out the zetatalk link posted above, it says that any tsunami from Japan would rush up the straits and hit us too. Rats, while I know the 'exposed' west coast would be hit, and the tsunami would (as it has in the past) rush up the inlet and drown Port Alberni, I figured we in Victoria would be sheltered from an actual tsunami, high waters - yes, but not huge waves. But the zetatalk link says that the tsunami would be funneled up the straits and we would experience tsunami also. Hmm-m-m. Well, I've made it a point not to live near the waters' edge anyway, hopefully I'm high enough.
It's is interesting the things we cling to, to make ourselves feel better. Many years ago when my daughter was 3 and my son wasn't born yet, I was in a Health Food store across town, I overheard a woman telling another that in the New Millenium this was the place to be, that it would be Paradise. I've never forgotten that moment.
(Then there is the other part of my brain that says, Paradise... yeah, we're all going to meet our Maker. 😈 )
I don't think it matter if your not from Ont to post, so thanks for sharing.
Also if from my link they say a shift will happen and geographic zones will change . So that said I think Ontario North or any high ground north will be more tropical, so we might all be living up in Hudson Bay eating pineapple and bananas.
Hi everyone: the safest place on earth is the Island of Newfoundland. It is the oldest place on earth, fossils found in the St. John's area gave palentology a new era in history proving that the appalacia mountains are the ancient mountains of the world. 🙂 We are in the middle of the world's largest earthquake free zone. We have no volcanos. We only get the tail ends of hurricane's. There are no tornadoes. No droughts. We have 4 perfect seasons. If the Atlantic is plagued with a tsunami the West Coast of the Island has protection from the wave. I have lived in Alberta and Toronto, and visited all 10 provinces in the summer and winter and I guarnatee the winters on the west coast of Newfoundland are much warmer than the bitter cold of Ontario and Alberta. The summers are cooler with the nice ocean breeze. There is plenty of land for everyone. Lots of natural vegetation. Almost every berry known to man. Gardens do quite well if you know what your doing you can grow many different typrs of vegetables besides the traditional ones. Wood to cook food or keep yourselves warm is often right out your door. There is an abdundance of fresh water. We have lots of fish and wild game......If the earth is plagued with disasters or a solar flare takes out the grid..make your way to Newfoundland...you will be safer than anywhere else on earth.....you may have to get here by boat but once your here you will be safe. I moved back home from Alberta 3 years ago and with everything that is happening in the world I will be staying for awhile ..take care.
Newfoundland? I hadnt thought of there, you may be right, but what if your to old to learn a second langauge?
I would have to say i think northern ontario would be the safest place I know of. 7 hour drive up north from toronto and the population is practically nil, lots of wildlife in abundance to sustain you or your family or anyone else you bring for that matter. Its also the land of a thousand lakes, so even if one of your sources of water and fishing got contaminated from radiation, pollutants ect. there would be hundreds of more lakes to try your luck. Not to mention the huge variety and abundance of trees to use for hundreds of different things. like heating, meat smoking, arrow and bow making ect. I would not want to be anywhere near the border because if SHTF I believe our police forces and military would have a hard enough time trying to deal with all the chaos and rioting, looting ect. that us canadians would cause, let alone americans coming up from the south with automatic weapons, making it almost impossible to defend your home from being looted ect. but that's just my view of things. If ontario was a no go then i would head to newfoundland as its true that rural people or small communities would be more likely to band together or help each other as they are tighter nit then big cities where the insecurities of city life would cause people to hoarde, loot, steal and in general give that trust no one type of atmosphere. The less heavily populated the better, thought its nice to have other around as there is safety in numbers. I guess thats my two cents worth lol.
The safest place on earth? Right between Ranger and WildE!
