To those preppers with young age babies, I've got the most beautiful gift this Christmas, a healthy 8 pounds boy. Okay, I've been ''prepping'' is arrival with a year worth of over-the-counter meds, 1000 diapers of all sizes (wich must last 3 weeks !!!), 3 months of food for myself & milking mother, thermometer, glucometer and spare monitor in the EMP box... But if I ever missed some things, I would like other parents to show up with their ideas.
Congratulations on your new arrival. Curious why the glucometer... and what is the spare monitor in the EMP proof box?
Check this out...lots of samples being handed out!

Oh ya...get a 12v bottle warmer and a few glass bottles for it.
This way you can warm bottles from your car accessory outlet or other 12v source if the power is out!

I always keep some medical assessment tools spares within 4 differents EMP boxes. Spare baby monitor, thermometers, glucometers.... They contain sensitive electronics. I also keep 2 smoke detector to replace busted ones. You know, with a wood stove.....
Even if I do not need glucometer for myself or any family member, they could be useful as barter or to assess a patient (I'm a W-EMT).
@ Denob: Big thanks for the web site and the idea of a 12v bottle warmer..... I'm running to get those !

We had the indoor bottle warmer and it rocks as well as a baby wipe warmer. Our kids stayed sleeping while changing in the middle of the night because they werent shocked awake by the cold. LOTS on Q-tips. I have the steady hand and the wipe pinned down babies head while I cleared his and her nasal passages (Proper technique is vital as not to go to far or push the snot back up). The sucker thing you can buy doesnt really work that well .
We bought formula as back-up and we did need it anyhow since we had problems with breastfeeding. 5 cases diapers in excess to the 3 on the go. 1 year ahead on winter boots and warm clothes (Buy end of season an save up tp 75%) We buy things like movie clothes that are out of date but the cotton is still good and we pack them away. We live out of the city so fasion is not a priority.
Lots and lots of wipes, zinc cream for horrid diaper rash, extra soothers if you use them, I like gripe water for gas and tummy trouble. If you're working toward 3 months, you'll need rice cereals and soft baby foods in jars (unless you'll make them yourself) and little baby snacks like rice crackers or easy dissolve cereals. The only other thing I can think of is maybe a gentle laundry soap for sensitive baby skin, baby shampoos and soap, oh, and little nail clippers.
Good job though.
If your home library contains more volumes about survival-related topics than your local public library, you might be a prepper.
