I just went outside and noticed about 60 honey bees buzzing and appearing to be dying on the ground. Is this normal at this time of year?

are they your own bee's, i've been exploring the option on keeping two of my own bee hives at my BOL as I have fields and flowers all over the place. Would be nice to have pounds of honey around if or when I needed it. I know two people that have them as well. They said that sometime they do die off in good numbers and once and a while will lose a hive or two due to weather, other insects and disease. They give me more then enough honey to use at home and for stocking up. Honey is an odd food for sure, I noticed that it can dry right out on me in my cupboard and to make it good again I was told just to heat it up in a pot placed inside another pot of hot water. It works great and looks just like it did before it dried out. Its kinda a pain having a hive and takes time, I would like to find work closer to home so I could care for my own hives one day, during the summer they just need to be somewhere the bears and such can't get them, but as it cools you gotta put some stuff around the hive to help keep it warmer so the hive can live through the winter. I don't know if ne of this was useful, perhaps someone in your area knows more and can give you a better answer. Check your local farmers or flee market for people selling honey and ask them about it as well.

They were flying around the apartment building and I was thinking someone probably sprayed them. But they let them live all summer. Go figure. Poor things are so misunderstood. Kill wasps, hornets and other biters for all I care, but leave the bees alone.
