I use photobucket;

for example; our current backyard

You can set it with passwords or develop complete 'albums'. This was a single photo that was part of a larger album...

What a great idea! Compact and very affordable for most.

Now I have the food for you to store in there too. Check it out here at this link and if you have questions do not be shy.

Thanks for the link Snow.

I will get back to you on that. I am not normally a fan of MLM's, but I will research this more.

Thanks,

Mountainman.

Howdy,

If you decide you cannot build your own these guys may sell you one.

Their website is:

http://www.springtailsolutions.com/gpage16.html

They have other packages for other vehicles, including the Jeep and the FJ Cruiser. Check 'em out for ideas.

Cheers,

Mountainman.

Man i wish i had one of those new Tahoe's this looks like a good kit to have in the back of one of them! I guess we're on our own to build a custom storage/rack unit if we have a different vehicle not listed on any of those sites.

403_O,

There is a lot to be said for making it yourself. The biggest plus is, your gear will fit the cargo system - not fitting your gear to the cargo system. Nice part about this internet thing is seeing what others are doing and that gives you ideas on what you want to do.

Great idea, an excellent example of foresight and ingenuity. We all need ways to improve our plans cost effectively.

I used the same concept in making compartments in the floor of the box of a 3/4 ton contractors vehicle. Flipping the tailgate gave you access to a lot of goodies that were required on a regular basis, even while loaded with job site materials. The only complaint I had was moving the 'front' tool box to access the spare tire that was hidden under it. Fortunately I only had to do that once in 7 years. :lol

Presently a similar set up would be quite complicated as a fifth wheel trailer is the living quarters of my BOV. You did get the creative juices flowing though so I do thank you for the gentle push in that direction Mountain Man.

Thanks Duffman,

It has taken decades to scrounge. I am really, really cheap.....I mean thrifty; so I have to make my own stuff at times. Somedays it is worth it, others maybe not so much, Lol.

BTR,

I am glad I could help with those creative thoughts. Let us know what you come up with. Maybe post a pic or two????

Cheers,

Mountainman.

I've seen this set up in the back of contractor vehicles (minivans to trucks) but never put it into the context of a BoV! You've given me something to work on this summer... will test it out in hunting season. Great pictures.

I also have a utility trailer that I'm hoping to make some minor modifications to as well, so if anyone has any images of what they have, that would be great. I'll post once I've made an attempt but I'm not a carpenter or welder so it won't be pretty.

(like to Susannah's project as well as we have a smaller vehicle also)

can help you out if you would like

Hey Mntman,
just saw this come up again and I had a BAM moment. In storage I have a very heavy duty large home made (tv stand/coffee table) take the wheels off and it will fit just nicely in the Newly purchased Safari (the Caravan was Taken one night .. while I was at a movie)

It is almost exactly the same size as the back of the Safari, will fit between the doors and the rear bench. If I take the wheels off and raise it up say, a 2x4 or 2x6 height on both sides, that will give me two levels of compartments with nice thick wood as the dividers. The wood is so thick it will carry about 150+ pounds before it sags me thinks.

So thanks for the recycled post, ideas peculating now!

I still have the trailer but moving into the new house ate away all of our free time with everything that entails plus the garden beds we built...

I've yet to figure out how to post pictures but I need to show you all what I have for a trailer so that you can send me some ideas. If someone had an actual shop/garage, we could make a weekend event if we all arrived with our equipment and ideas and worked together on design and assembly...

That requires trust on the part of the host of course but I bet I'm not the only one who would be interested in learning.

Howdy MntMan,
so I posted the other day the idea with the shelf I have had sitting around for a long time. Here it is in the photo below.
Now my Vehicle is different from yours, so my build will be different as well. In the photo on the right, you see the open panel, that is the jack panel and on the left side is another small opening panel with a utility socket beside it for 12v power.

I just tossed the shelf in with the wheels to check on dimensions after measuring of course. The thought I had was to use the old, very old ice chest for food storage. This old chest is sentimental to me as it was my Grandparents along with a memory or two of road trips with this old girl keeping food and drinks cold. Below the ice chest is a wooden block just for height and dimension testing. This wood block will be replaced with a tool box, that will have a few tools, though mostly it will carry some emergency equipment. Below the shelf, on one side will go my flat tool box and the other side will be the emergency tarp/rope/pegs to attach to the roof racks to provide emergency shelter and well some quick camping shelter or picnic shelter as well.

In the middle section, I am thinking or other emergency supplies along with food, or cooking items, or what have you.
Not seen in the photo, which was added a little while ago, is my kukri machete which fits nicely beside the unit and allows me access to the power plug as well. Although I just popped it in there, I moved the wheels around so it would not roll. Then we headed out for a test spin and a visit to a parking lot. The unit did not move at all, just sitting there like that! Now, I am thinking maybe leave the heavy duty wheels, pull out for camping and use it as a beside the vehicle under the shelter, table. hhmmm thinking 💡
