I found a place that sells the MK line of bows, If you head north on ST albert trail, turn left at 132st (tim hortons on the corner) and as you reach the second block on your left hand side is a store with nothing more than a Liquidation sign on it. I bought a Mk 150, on sale in camo for 99 dollars....dont laugh..it turned out to be very acurate, light to carry, legal for deer even, and super quiet to shoot. I think this is a great value, a simple recurve, extra strings were 12 dollars, that will put small game on the table no if ands or buts, and larger if you want.
A few weeks later I went back and bought their MK300 with thumb hole stock. Now this is a compound, I prefer recurve, but for 249.00 I could not go wrong and this put me into the 300ft per sec range, and it came with a red dot non magnifying sight with 3 hash marks...for the money this is a outstanding value, and this model has the ADF feature included in that price, many Excalibers dont. At 300 ft/persec this is roughly equally to Excal's Pheonix model. One thing you must do is throw away the arrows this unit comes with and buy propper carbon fiber ones, the difference is night and day. This unit with carbon arrows will nail a softball at 50-55 yards all day long over and over..

Look at the MK300, and with the thumb hole stock, that thumb hole is really comfortable...you can give that model a trigger job so easy, and it will breaks like glass. The regular price is 300 but all his xbow were on sale over the summer. He had stacks of them from floor to head height, he tells me he brings in a couple orders a year spring and mid summer. He stocks all the needed parts, not that you need any, I am around 700 -800 shots on that model with no problems, spare parts are kept behind the counter you just have to ask, even has broodheads in stock, only thing I dont recommend is those arrows, dont get me wrong they work fine on cats and baby seals up close but for the target work I like they just wont do.
OH I just came to add (I almost forgot this) I did find one problem with this unit..the scope rail and numbered adjustment ramp (same piece) put your hand on top of the scope and wiggle it, you will note there is some play in there side to side...to much causing the scope to bounce around from shot to shot, sure its only a little bit but that wont do. I just ground down two olfa blade segments until they were half as thick, and glued them to take up the slack, another friend of mine just bought a feeler gauge set and used one of the blades to do the same thing, probably the smarter way to go. This same piece caused a second problem in that the pull cord runs right by the adjustment knob and will sometimes move the knob when you are cocking the piece thus tipping the scope mounting plate up or down and the langauge used when this happens....lets just say you dont want kids around..This is a silly feature to me as once I am sighted in I dont want my base to move, a little goop on the knob locks it tight and you will have no more problems. Remember at 249.00 this package is roughly a third the cost of a Excal, so if you have to do a few little things like this to tune it up thats minor...still a good value.
Oh back again, I just remembered as you pull back the string and it locks into place the safety is automaticly engaged...I nice feature to have and I wish my excal had it, This safety, while positive was a pain in the ass because of the force needed to move it to off safe. The flat bar spring pressing down just has to much force, just take a allen key or some such thing, slid it under the spring, and using a centerpunch give the spring a wack, a good wach. Once you do this and bend the spring it slides nice and easy.
