Safe and dry in a motel in Claresholm... That was a very interesting day in High River. We will wait to see how bad it gets over the weekend. Don't think we will be able to get back in today. Hope everyone else got out and up to dry.

Buggie checking in.

Just a word to the wise, stores are already selling out of water, so I hope everyone has their bathtubs filled and their water preps fully stocked. The water will be sure to be contaminated, I wouldnt be suprised if it is announced today. The army is in the city now assisting local emergency crews with evacuation and flood defence.

And please, for the sake of emergency services, please stay off the roads if you can help it! the last thing they need is to be dealing with car accidents 🙂

See you all after.

The bridge over the river at Canyon Meadows Fish creek washed away partially today. Getting ugly. Im a few blocks in and up a hill so safe and sound. Plenty of people without power right now and water is gone in nearly every store. That grocery store by Chapters in Shawnessy is a freaking nightmare at the moment and lastly... they are supposedly locking down all of the deerfoot right about now. Crazy times

No matter how good or bad your life is, wake up each day thankful because someone somewhere else right now is fighting for theirs

Doing good, dear god its chaos out there right now. There was a line up of nearly 100 ppl at the local co op waiting for propane, let alone the completely packed parking lot. Its nice to not have to fight through that.

We're a block away from houses that back onto fish creek. Water is up to the road that runs through the park. We have no power, but are managing fine. Still have running water. Most neighbours have evacuated, we're not in the zone for our neighbourhood, but the water is closer to us than the houses in the evacuated area.

The flooding has been devastating. I sure hope it doesn't crest again today as they predicted yesterday. B&C, I wish you the best, hang in there!

Howdy Folks,

Been busy, keeping out of the way and such. Staying with family in the big city. We are safe, high and dry.

In days to come I will start a bit of a de-brief on this situation, what worked, what was overlooked, what could be improved, assumptions and such. But not today.

I returned to High River today. I was not allowed any closer home than the army check point on Highway #2.

It would seem our little flood came in two stages. Stage one occurred as we evac'd Thursday night, with the ground water being forced to the surface. Stage two occurred yesterday, Friday 21 June, with a backflow on the Highwood River forcing its way into SE and NE High River. These are neighbourhoods nowhere near the river or the "flood Plain". The Western Financial Building near Highway #2, as well as Rowan House, appear to be untouched. I can't say for any other structure further West.

Prayer go out to my friends, neighbours and fellow citizens of High River.

Mountainman.
