It would be great to hold it in a location during the warmer months where we could possibly hold a pic-nic and just sit around with our lawn chairs talking.

Somewhere near Red Deer would be great! It would allow the northerners and the southerners to meet somewhere in the middle.

Here we are with a weekend approaching. My guess is that with Fathers day being Sunday, most have plans.
But I think we need to come up with a solid coomitement for next weekend.

Who wants to have a SHTF practice June 23, 12????
Seriously, we show up only with what we can get into our daily driver and those we need to protect.
We meet at a remote location and get a few emergeny shelters, tents, etc up, get some water, get a couple fires going and then begin our discussion on what needs to be done.
Don't bring your tent trailor, motorhome etc. because in this senario, you couldn't get to it.
You have your bug out bag and were able to get to a store and grab a few things.
We have to meet up as if this one of our alternative emergency meeting places and figure out how we can get to our stores.

If I get 5 or more firm commitements by Sunday night, I will contact a couple of landowners to get permission.
Better yet, who here has land we could go to?

Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...

Were you thinking of doing a Saturday night or the whole weekend? The missus starts working night shift again this week (which includes weekends) so we only get so many hours 'together' on the weekends between her sleep and work. She'd be miffed if I was off having fun 😆 on my own while she was stuck at home...

I can't commit tonight but I'm curious what you were thinking.

I was thinking if we could pick a location, that we would all leave home with enough time to get to the meeting, have the get together and then get back home without spending the whole day.

Just an hour to three max to give everyone time to mingle and share ideas and stories.

Good luck on your practice run. I like the idea but my schedule is fluid and unpredictable lately and for the next few weeks.

Bieseker lokks okay. It's about 65km from Calgary. For me west of Red Deer it is only 140km, but for folks from Edmonton or Lethbridge, its well over 250. Judging by the locations of those of us who seem to be posting regularily, Bieseker is central.

I will begin planning for next Saturday the 23rd.
