I have been somewhat concerned about the radiation leaking from Fukushima into the ocean and accumulating in the fish we harvest from the pacific ocean. In a recent search the most recent testing results done by Health Canada I could find was done during Aug, 2011. I did some more digging and found ...

I hold no ill will to the BC salmon industry and do like to see salmon in my diet but I don't like farmed salmon for some health reasons and now regret that I won't be buying pacific salmon for different health reasons. It is a pity that Health Canada is 'too busy' to check the pacific salmon supply more often especially taking into account the length of time and routes of pacific salmon migrations.
If not Canadians, just who is Health Canada looking out for?

Ya. Its a hard call. I made the decision to stop eating pacific tuna. (I guess I was hoping there was some other type of tuna). The moment was weird when I looked at the 20 cans of tuna in my food storage and kicking my self that there was only 20 cans to last me the rest of my life. 2 days ago, there was a great sale on tuna. 75c a can. Flicker of hope in my heart, I picked it up and read the label. "canned in Vancouver". I sat it back down and realised the things I feared would happen 20 years ago had actually happened. Its weird coming to grips with that kraft dinner and tuna is not some poor collage student or survival food...but something I will save as comfort food to savore for the last few times. The loss of salmon fits in there with the loss of clams, I had already gone through, destroying my reliance on the ancient first nations foraging that had shaped the majority of my early prepper life choices
I have a Tactical Harness and I have a Tool Belt. The Tool Belt is more Useful.
First the good news, there is Atlantic tuna... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_bluefin_tuna
The bad news is they are all but wiped out. If you really like tuna you will have to read the can labels and/or have a look in the fish market the next time you are in 'the big city'. 😆
I'm sure you could get good results by canning your own with a pressure canner. I'm also pretty sure a water bath canner just wouldn't get hot enough. If you do choose to can meat, fish or poultry, don't forget to 'sniff test' before eating.

i used to eat salmon proubly twice a week , not anymore though. there is still junk washing up on shore from japan on vancouver island. its dawm scarey . but thats OK ITS SAFE TO EAT ...BULLSHIT.
They are reporting so many dieoffs off the west coast, collapse of sardines , starfish up and down the west coast are literally rotting apart into slime and now there are increasingly sick jaundiced salmon being found dying before spawning and our salmon spawning this year in the fraser region is devastingly dismal . As a westcoaster I am really worried about the bigger picture :
I would only eat fresh water only fish not even stuff in tidal waters and no steel head the rain we get on coast is still hot, the 3 cores are still open to elements the water being dumped is least of the worries..
Think of it this way why the russians sped and sacrificed so much to coffin and then recoffin the Chernobyl? Why they do it so fast? did they care about the water or the exposed melted core? where is the radiation coming form to get the water that high? they are measuring lethal dose from the one remaining tower at a rating of 10 servients because that is the MAX of the meter and it is over 300m from the exposed core. Radiation damage is divided by distance from source. ie on your skin bad in your gut lethal.
They ran MOX mixed plutonium oxide, 1 lb yes one lb in the air is enough to kill off everyone in this world, a pin prick with a few atoms of it in you is 100% chance to die of cancer and starts damaging your genetic code, young people here will have alot of problems. Want to check it out look st live birth rate before and after event on the west coast it is public record. Ask why the PAGS was raised 5000 to 20000 times what was the standard for radiation for last 50+ years. Of course so talking head can say withing federal guidelines.
so would you eat anything from the ocean... sure why not i always wanted a glow in the dark, super model skinny look, and dont for get the other side has the enriching oil supplement compliments of BP and deep water horizon. At least with all your hair falling out will save some of us guys from having hair in awkward spots lol.
want to really blow your mind then read this http://jimstonefreelance.com/fukushima1.html
Won't disagree with what Namelus has said.
However, I really wish people I talk with get their units right when it comes to radiation.
The accepted metric units are "Sieverts." Generally, most "acceptable" doses in industry, e.g. Oil, Gas, Nuclear, are in milli-Sieverts (mS).
The older units of Rem and milli-Rem (mRem) really no longer apply, but can be figured out by calculation.
FYI: I am a former Nuclear Industry worker.

Is what you say worth at least a Canadian nickel now?
Cause two cents ain't worth squat anymore !

Self-sufficient is good. Co-efficient is better.

Between the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and farmed fish shrimp are off my list as well as Pacific fish.
Thinking about crayfish in a small pond though....
I wouldn't consider any fish taken to be 'completely safe' as every rain fall the pollutants in the air are dropped into the water bodies. And that's not saying anything about what enters those bodies from surface runoffs and people dumping (and flushing) stuff they aren't supposed to but never think twice about doing.
This can all be said about food taken from the soil as well. Are we doomed? Probably. But I'm sure there's a way to handle it while we figure out how to clean it up.
In the case of fresh water fish the answer is to limit consumption. Sucks, but it is what it is.
Runs With Scissors
In a word... OUCH!

I didn't quite understand your comment Below the Radar.
Those are truths, but they forgot to mention they also suspect the skin burns on arctic animals may also be suspected resulting from the hole in the ozone worsening as well. Also the diminishing fish stocks would have rising acidity and anoxia (lowered oxygen levels) affecting our ocean life and systems , ever increasing pollution levels and overfishing , changes to the aquatic environment may possibly also allow for some infectious lifeforms to thrive affecting fish and sea mammals as well as things like the massive starfish die offs we are seeing here where they appear to rot apart.

My comment "OUCH!" simply means 'that hurts'.
I wouldn't for one second say that Fukushima is the only factor that stresses wild life but from the article I linked to ...
"9. Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found in a very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada…
• 73 percent of mackerel tested
• 91 percent of the halibut
• 92 percent of the sardines
• 93 percent of the tuna and eel
• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies
• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish"
Granted these fish come from Japan they were caught in the pacific ocean. While I am no expert on ocean currents, to my way of thinking if a Harley Davidson can make it to BC's coast in a box off the back of a cube van, cesium-137 has probably made the journey as well. With a 30 year half life cesium-137 is one of the nastiest radioactive materials to ingest. If I can avoid a know source of cesium-137 in my diet, I will. Chances are at least two generations of people that have yet to be born will be dealing with the radiation from Fukushima.
The last Health Canada tests on pacific salmon I could find were conducted during Aug, 2011. Migratory fish move and salmon usually migrate long distances over 2 to 4 years. I guess trusting 2 year old data and ignoring all of the other factors is what we should be doing. I Googled "health canada testing pacific salmon" and it would appear that ' nothing to see here, move along, move along' is the official stance.
Edited to add: A couple of maps showing sockeye salmon and pacific herring migratory ranges along with a load of info with links to additional news stories and studies.

Could it be the West coast is screwed regardless of whether we eat the fish or not ? Considering we get our power from hydro sources and follow conservation regulation, it seems like an act of war to me that the japanese and all others using nuclear energy ,thoughtlessly impact so many lives for so many generations to come.
