To be fair, I haven't been very active for the past year, basically since you joined in 2014 Peppercorn.
A few of us organized several Calgary meetings/social gatherings, whatever you want to call them, going back to 2012 I think? I'd seriously have to check the forum archives to confirm and I'm too lazy tonight 😀
We (the handful of volunteers) got a bit burnt out and so have been quiet for this past while. Some of those volunteers also moved away last year, depleting our numbers to share the weight.
It is true that there is an author amongst but there are also several lurkers who help out in real life as well 😎
I have no financial gain from this, and Briden Solutions was thinking of having an open house anyway, so when we went to them to ask about using their parking lot, it was really good timing, nothing more. So, we're going to provide some volunteers to 'run' some demonstration tables, and Briden is spending money to feed people, and hopefully many of those attending will come out with their vehicles, their bags, gadgets, and most importantly, their ideas and questions.
After all is said and done, our volunteer group formed around the idea of educating everyone who came out, not just preppers but ordinary Calgarians interested in preparing for emergencies.
So, hope you can make it out as you have a lot of ideas and are obviously very hands-on.
Based on what I've seen in your posts, you would have a lot to offer anyone willing to listen!
Dangphool I am sure you are sincere in your intent to educate.....and may that go well.
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
Awesome meeting
Thank you brides for everything you guys and all the other leaders did
Preparedness is like a condom , I've rather have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it
It was a great success. I was happy to make contact with familiar faces and meet new people.
Full marks to the folks with bug out vehicles displayed at the show and shine.
Thanks to Briden Solutions for hosting, creating the scavenger hunt and providing excellent food. They also contributed prizes.
Thanks also to Duffman who took part in the bug out practice drive down from Red Deer.
Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...
It was a great turnout, around 60 people came through over the afternoon!
The most interest was in the BoV show and shine and the alternative cooking demonstrations.
Hopefully we can do this again in a few months.
Thanks to all those who came from near and far!
I'm so happy the meeting was a success! Unfortunately life got in the way and at the last minute had to cancel. I'll be watching to see when the next get together is planned. Take care all and see you at the next meeting.
