Camping on one site for more than 21 days is illegal. It is also illegal to make any type of permanent structure on crown land unless you have a permit for specific activities that would require said structure such as trapping. If an illegal structure comes to the attention of the authorities they will remove it and if they can associate an indivudual to that structure, charge them with improper use and assign costs for the removal as well. If this was allowed everyone and his whole family would be "settling" in the hills.
The 21 days on one site isn't really enforced so much since SRD implemented the 'Designated Camp Nodes" in some parts of Crown recreational areas.
Instead of allowing the public to random camp at leisure, the areas around the Nodes are downright shameful from overuse. Random camping allowed nature to heal itself from the occasional use spread out over a larger area.
Areas I haven't seen for awhile have become unreckonizable.
It was shocking.

"Damn it, I should have listened to Crier.... that bastard is brilliantly gifted with "supernatural common sense."
Isn't it funny when you think about it.... not so long ago, all the poor folk lived in the countryside and mountains on self-sustaining acreages, while the rich folk lived int eh cities.... now rich folk live in the countryside and mountainside acreages while the poor folk have to live in the cities!!!
Grayman,
Sorry I do not see the humour in it. It did not occur by accident, it was project in social engineering...
Mountainman.
Hi Mountainman.. yes I agree with you and was aware of those points... using "funny", was tongue-in-cheek. i find the reversal extremely disconcerting in that it was brought about so easy, and in such a short time. The US gov is now considering those who maintain more than a 7-day store of food and water as potential domestic terrorists, while a generation ago, it was normal for families to maintain months of supplies given the lessons folks learned coming through the depression. "Victory" gardens, owning your own cows and chicks and other acts of self-reliance etc, were all considered acts of patriotism... now however, people who do this are suspiciously viewed by those in government as potential terrorists... its a sad state of affairs today. 😐
