Hiya all,

I'm fairly new to the prepper world. However, I am building my skill set and supplies.
There are pros and cons of leaving the city, and I am interested in what others are working towards.

Does anyone know of any groups or communities that are looking for people (or would like to) for setting up a place outside of Calgary?

Thx!

I think you will find that there are as many different strategies and plans as there are folks on the site. It's important to first do a little introspection; what hazards are you prepping for? can you imagine a likely event which would demand that you leave your home? where would you likely go if you had to bolt? Once you have some of your own answers to these and other questions about your motivations, you can start to seek out like-minded folks. At this point, you may be putting the horse before the cart.

For myself, I am building a place in the country in rural NS. This place is more about retirement and being close to family than any world wide calamity fantasy. I've got other family closer to home where I am welcome if I have to leave Calgary for events like our floods in '11. Instead, I plan for the banal and mundane events that life serves in good measure. It's not sexy; and there are those among us who would say that I'm not a prepper at all. I don't worry about it one way or another.

Good luck with it.

There are tons of people who have or want to have a group
But I think learning is a individual thing mostly and as a group second in regards to knowledge if you need any of that I can message you a lot of information or I'm always willing to help people out with almost anything just ask

Thank you for your responses.

I appreciate your perspective Antsy. However, I don't know what I don't know.
When I hear other people's perspectives, they will either resonate with me or not.
I like to see what options are out there and things that I may have not thought of, and then solidify my plan.

Duffmanprepper, thank you for your offer. I may just take you up on that someday 🙂

We are planning on another get together this August, like we have done in past years.

Watch for the new thread in the AB section.

Hey Antsy, I hope all is going well!

Sincerely

Hi, I am very new to Alberta and this forum. I moved from the US after feeling sooner or later a SHTF event will happen. I have been preppering but quite slowly and can't organize it very well as my wife herself does not keen on doing this. I know we are late to the game and need to speed up as the world out there are getting more and more worrisome. I am looking forward to meeting someones having similar mindset around Calgary area and sincerely need some helps on a lot of topics, like rural land purchasing, like-mind survival community, etc. Is there any group meeting coming soon or does anyone like to have some coffee together sometime?

Thanks Duffman for contacting me. Because I'm a newbie here so can't reply the PM, so sorry about that. But yea, if you guys have some meet-ups in Red deer or Calgary, it'd very nice to join you for coffee.
