Just a bit of an over view here on a DIY project I did a few weeks ago, thought some of you out there might be interested. I got into handloading my own ammunition a few months ago, but have not really been able to get any work done because I lack a designated workbench or even a proper space to operate the equipment. I dont know why I never thought of this earlier, but after much gear grinding and ear smoking I finally had a brain storm and solved my problem!
Below are some pictures of my "Lee 50th anniversary complete reloading kit". I purchased it at Wholesale sports for about $150, and the kit contains everything you need to begin reloading (with the exeption of the actual cartridge componants... case, powder, primer, bullet) and a die set for your chosen caliber (for example 9mm parabellum). Without a designated wooden bench to work on, I could not bolt the actual press down (which is necessary for the action to work) redering it effectivley useless. So I figured why not just bolt it to a scrap piece of 3/4 inch plywood, use a couple of C-clamps, and I can have a bench that I can take with me and bolt onto any table or surface I want. total cost of the project (asside from the reloading kit) was about $20. a couple of C-clamps from canadian tire for $8 each, and some 1/4 inch bolts, and im in business.
I like this set up because I can take it anywhere if I want to. Perfect for a bugout scenario where I might not be able to make it back home and I need the ability to reload ammunition... not to mention the fact I can do it in my living room, kitchen, friends house... you name it. This project is something for you all to consider if you are interested in reloading, but do not have the space to do it, or like the idea of having the option for mobility.
