I would like to hear some different opinions on this. Do many of you believe the hype surrounding the 21st Dec? I made a video tonight if anyone is interested I would really appreciate some imput. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZeBRzuGXZ0&feature=plcp Thanks.

Hello Melbourne Prepper! Unfortunately, your video is coming up as private...There are some really great answers and truly funny people here!!
Of course there are so many predictions for this year...even some of the most bizarre things i have heard of do not actually bring about the 'end' the world, but rather a transition of consciousness. I think the biggest threat we are facing right now is impending war and sky rocketing food prices...

This video is truly bizarre, and i would like to know what the sound minds of reason think of it....(ICRCC!) http://youtu.be/nUr8Gn0ta-k
Try to get past the first 35 seconds of cheese, then her unbelievable introduction... even the title...in fact, don't even watch the whole thing, cause it is whacked out there... i do not believe in what she says, but the part in particular that interests me starts @ 1:25...
But how do you explain someone like this? She doesn't seem to be on drugs...is she just plain mad? The scariest thing in all of this is that people actually believe what they are saying...i have never heard of the Pythagoras Global Conference 2012 either...just curious for your thoughts, please?!

What a pleasant post AlbertaPrepper and good advice too. By its very nature prepping requires that we investigate and contemplate causes of events that would lead from anything form a disaster to the end of the world as we know it and all things in between. The trick is not to dwell on the darker side and do not lose sight of the goal; to weather the adversity whatever it may be. Actually prepping is a celebration of life and the continuance of life. It is uplifting to see an optimistic post occasionally, well done.

Deleau I watched the move and I will give you my impressions. Well if you took all TEOTWAWKI theories, throw in several good conspiracy theories plus a few new ones, mix it up with some new age speculation, roll it up, shake well and condense it into six minutes...... there you have it.

The presenter seems to believe what she is saying but I doubt that she is hearing what she is saying. To be polite I will say that she is in a different place than most of us (all of us). As for the segment @1.25 minutes, the reference to the fifth dimension is straight out of The Twilight Zone. Literally it is from the TV series no kidding. It is used to describe a mysterious dimension beyond our understanding where who knows what is possible. The reference is not based on any fact and this is the first time I have heard it.

YouTube is a conflation of fact, fiction, conjecture and thoughts, some good, some indifferent and some bad. If anyone doubted the potential of social media and particularly YouTube they were awakened by its influence in shaping the Arab Spring and most recently the violent reaction to the "film" The Innocence of Muslims. Watching YouTube is like traversing a minefield for the mind, you have to be careful what you encounter. Watch it, sit back, analyze it, decide if it fits into your framework of how you perceive the world then move on. If you are a person who like to categories things then you can sort your finds as fact, fiction, entertainment, something to be considered or absolute BS. Without being to judgmental I would assign the latter category this particular piece.

The question I will pose to all of you - if the Mayan's could not predict their own demise, why in the world you ever believe that they could predict ours?

Take a hike in the mountains - it makes you open your eyes and mind to the amazing thing this planet we call home has to offer!

Life is amazing, it really is!

~Make it a great day!

Love every single word in the above quote! Bravo AlbertaPrepper!

ICRCC - You do have a way with words 😆

I too believe that life is too precious to be consumed with worry for tomorrow or December 21. Plan and prep but enjoy life - that is afterall WHY we prep 🙂

Does anyone believe in 2012? I better, since the checks I write have it written on them.

But seriously I think it will be a light snowfall day with a honey ham and cocoa while watching some of the tube at mom and dads to see how everyone is reacting. I don't have TV but one would think it would be a good television day. Or perhaps spend the day chatting in here if the weather is poor.

Tried to watch the video, but just couldn't. Then again, I skipped right to the 1:25 mark!
Impression? Naw...I'll keep them to myself.
As for my belief about Dec.21?
I think it would be an incredible day to watch some TV...especially the news channels as I think it will be one story after another of cult groups chugging down the magic coolaid, unfortunately.

It is already TEOFTWAWKI, but most people trying too hard to see it, to notice the subtle events that have already started. We have already reached peak food production, we have already reach peak oil production. We consume more than we produce, on the expediential scale we are vertical on population growth. We are on the brink of destruction, and this is not counting the fact that the earth is rapidly changing, and we are already on the downslope of drinkable water. We are at the apex of solar storms for the past 200 years, even a near miss with a solar halo can mean a major black out.
2012, we are here alreadt, the question is... will we all see the end of 2013.

If we see April of 2013, then I will relax. The main things that I worry about right now is not being where I should be if a major CME with a negative charged (southern polarity) should come our way. If one of a 5+ magnitude hit us, we could be looking at life without electricity or electronics for 10 years give or take. A 5-15% chance this year of that happening, depending with whom you speak to. The Government will deny all.
The lottery or bust, with my luck it will be the lottery the day before a CME. 😐

I agree with Tanya here. I think we are entering a time when a number of major instablities in a number of different areas may have an unfortunately cumulative effect on each other.

1) You have western democracies on the verge of economic chaos.

2) These democracies are depending on China's econo,ic power to bail them out.

3) China's economy is showing more and more signs of a Japan style bubble & bust.

4) The middle East is growing increasingly unstable with friendly arab governments (Saudis Kuwaitis Omanis ect) depending on oil money to placate restless elements.

5) Demand for oil is decreasing due to world economic slowdown.

6) Decisive American action in the middle east is hampered by American public's "war fatigue" and political divisions.

7) 2012 American election seems to be brewing up to be the most devisive in decades.

8) Nuclear armed Pakistan is becoming increasingly unstable.

9) Isreal is become ever more jittery about a possible nuclear armed Iran.

10) Possibility of solar activity negatively affecting satellites in the next few few months.

11) Gee then since things aren't bad ENOUGH. Let's toss in the threat of:

--- a flu outbreak,

--- collapse of a post NATO Afghanistan (which borders on nuclear Pakistan and possibly nuclear Iran).

--- Climate change & weird weather.

--- Terrorism from unstable arab states.

--- Increasing food prices.

--- Unusual biological activity like mass die offs of bees and frogs, (which may be nothing but are disturbing none the less).

Any one or two of these difficulties would be nothing to worry about but if a few come to a climax at the same time.......... 🙁

With a list like this - Who the hell needs Mayans?

Dec 21 2012 is a Friday and I believe it's a work day. But I'd rather be at home so I can have doomsday party with my family and you folks! So I believe I'll ask for the day off:)

Should start a thread for that day only. Just let the chatter and banter go rampant. It is whether we like it or not a major day for many people. Keep it going like a chat room.

ICRCC I will let you do the honors of startiing a thread for that reason. Should probably start it earlier than the 20th so there arent 500 threads started at the same time 🙂

Thread is locked until the 20th or something like that.
