Storm was worse than first thought.

Lost 4 - 185w panels and a ground connector.

The thought of replacement and lugging these 90 lbs panels up an extension ladder again boils my blood.

Do they still work?
For the most part you can probably keep using them at a somewhat reduced output for a long time.

They still work although the voltage has dropped.

I will repair with a sheet of tempered glass over top of the broken glass with a bead of silicone. I'm worried about water and dust getting into the cracks further reducing their output.

They will be replaced with new and used at a different location.

I have a couple of suggestions. I assume this is not your primary location. If it was then they would be insured. If is not then it probably is not necessary to have them producing electricity when you are not there. If this is the case disconnect the batteries and cover them with a sheet of plywood. That is cheap insurance.

No these are at my primary residence. Four of the thirty two were broken and since I have a thousand dollar deductible for sixteen hundred dollars worth of panels, I don't see it feasible to make a claim.

I am in the process with the original supplier negotiating a warranty as i believe it was the frame and not the glass that were faulty.

There are no dents on the seams of my metal roof....

No that makes sense, your premium may well go up next time you renew. Hope the warrany works out for you.

The supplier warrantied all four panels. We split the cost of the shipping from Toronto which was fair. The ground connector I repaired myself.

Im also in the process of expanding my system, those new panels should arrive next week. I'll post a vid of my meter in reverse once they are tied in.

Congratulations. I have been worried about my panels in the hail too. Next storm I think I'll drop them to 90° and tighten the brackets... if I have enough time.

Would you mind sharing your contact? Seems you got a fair deal maybe others here would like to see what they offer I know I would. Not many around here into solar so although vendors are out there I'm not sure they are unstanding suppliers.

Thanks,

Darren

For a nominal fee, they will also design your system with either blueprints or measurements. Refundable upon an order.
