What do you do if your hit by unexpected medical challenges. I have just been told I cant drive for atleast 1 month, and this is typical if you have a heart attack...dmv is notified right away, had I been a commercial diver 3 months minimum no driving they tell me. Bills? Do you have them, will they start piling up? pets and animals, who is caring for them how long can they go without care? what happens to your home if you are gone on short notice for a week, a month......what if its winter?
I have none of those concerns and am not worried but its on the minds of others at the water cooler here, especially since the first is tomorow and some are from out of town with no way to pay their bills, brought here unexpectedly....some without id or bank cards (like myself), anyway just something to think about

This is one of the reasons that we do what we do. Hubby broke his neck a few years ago and was out of work for a few months. It was very beneficial that we had a stocked pantry and funds tucked away.

I don't know if I agree with the relative comparison between MI and "neck injury."

Obviously, there is a wide spectrum of severity between both entities.

Having said that for all comers, one-year mortality following an MI is 5-10 % and five-year mortality is 20 %. It is hoped that these numbers (some of which go back to the mid-1990's) are not as dire now with improving therapies.

But still...
