so I use a sled to move my water buckets and hay around the farm and yes, in a good drift out, have an no doubt will again use snowshoes, did the math and my sled fully loaded with my full, lid snapped down to keep the water in hauls 240 pounds on a regular bases and its pulled by one person, sometimes if I need lots of loads, and the trail is broke, I hook up the ram or the horse, but most of the time we do it ourselves.

Well, the ladies got 3 deer while I was sitting in a class last Friday. There was a herd of 20 white-tail that literally stood still after they shot the first one; so they filled a second tag before the herd meandered away. They've obviously never been shot at before. So many landowners refuse hunter's access after bad experiences.
We went out again to the same section on Sunday (class was on Saturday as well) and they got another small buck. Nothing for me to even shoot at 🙁
We did have a bull elk run towards us across a meadow right at daybreak. No clean shot so my partner tried to move across a low rise that the elk curved towards with the hope of meeting up at the top. No such luck. He was 1000 yards away by the time Eric crested the ridge.
The farmer informed us that later that day a large herd of elk walked through that quarter section but we were already home.
Sounds like some tags are getting filled.. last weekend i seemed to have caught the flue.. its been beating me up pretty bad.. i aim to be out friday and saturday.. Buddy of mine has a farmer that will let me hunt out at his place.. no one has been there for three years. I hope this gamble pays off. Thats saturday plans.. friday plans are just up the road from here.. lots of deer there.. good luck to you all to finish up with full tags and full freezers..
I managed to fill my three deer tags.. nothing huge but they are food. I had done some fence work this summer for a farmer. He raises All natural beef. His wife called and told me i am getting 1/2 a beef from them as a bonus for the extra work i did with them not asking and me not asking for anything extra.. Some good folks around here..
Hahahaha!! So last year was my first year hunting ever. Figure I'll start the hardest way 1st, 'cuz I tend to do that more often than not. Get the time to shoot 2 arrows at the same darn mule buck. 1st arrow hits 3 feet in front of the deer's front legs and he barely looks at me. Take a 2nd shot. Same spot. The other 5 deer with him decide to leave and he saunters off. Now I know what Dennis meant by muscle memory and your anchor point with a bundle of clothes on in the wind on 1 knee on a hill IS WAY DIFFERENT than shooting at a colored target 15 yards away inside!!! So frustrated, took the class, got my fire arms licence, bought a .273 rifle, and got my first deer (muley doe) with my first shot ever with my own ammo!! Whoop whoop!!!!!! (Had been to a buddies farm land to shoot 3 reloaded bullets from my friend the weekend before.) Got to help my buddies on a moose hunt 1st weekend of November. Was ridiculous fun and hard work (those things are brutally heavy to drag out of the foot-access-only area and to load in the truck). Oh, and filled my white-tail buck tag, and decided NOT to fill my white doe 'cuz buddy ended up giving me 2 1/2 deer from last season (he got his elk and all his deer - lol, it's hard to be his buddy sometimes :)). Lol, my tub was filled with meat to defrost. 3 weeks later, I got 40 lbs of jerky; 100+ lbs of ground; 30 lbs of sausage (and roasts and steaks from my kills this year). I do have to admit that my 1st deer ever was very small - you know you gotta admit it when your buddy walks into the garage and says "who shot the rabbit!" But whatever, going to try tanning the hides, figured out what and where the sinew is, antlers and some bones for some projects, smoked heart treats for the dogs and great meat for meals. I'm hooked!!
Live, laugh, love and learn!
Hey Dang, how you been?
I can help you resolve that 1000 yard problem...
lol
Even though I'm more of a spot and stalk hunter and I shoot such a tiny outdated calibre, ❓ I did plunk one at seven fifty.
I tried walking even further away, but i was getting too far from the truck! 😆 😆 😆
Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...
I'm going to buy a 338 Lupau lol... fracking elk.
Was a bad year for me, though a few more tags were filled amongst our group.
