Hi all,
We are currently in Calgary and have no clue where any LDS Cannery locations are. I even tried google and couldn't find a website to tell me. Apparently, there are LDS events where everyone comes out to a "farmer's market" type thing to buy canned/stored food at the church. I can't figure out how to find the scheduled days, let alone the actual LDS location. Anyone have any intel? Thanks!
Regards
Tuck & Em
Here is a list of all Canadian Canneries. Try looking under the term Home Storage Center and you will have more luck. I've heard rumours that he one in Lethbridge is currently shut down, but I would need to confirm this to be certain.
These folks run a great resource that allows a person to purchase in bulk quantities many of the common food items that one might store, or use on a regular basis. Good luck.

I read an article recently that said most of the canneries will no longer be having people do their own canning, but rather will sell canned products. Lethbridge will be an exception, but unfortunately Edmonton and Calgary will cease allowing people to can their own stuff. All the more reason it was a shame that our Salt & Prepper (or maybe it was a different name) member who offered to take a group on a canning adventure didn't get more of a response.
Even without the added benefit of being able to participate in the canning process itself, the Home Storage Center's will continue to provide very good quality products at very reasonable prices.
A place that I will continue to frequent, and thank my LDS friends for their foresight and generosity.

are non members aloud to purchase canned food ?
My experience has been very positive. Although it was a member who introduced me to purchasing through the canneries, I have purchased on my own since then. The missions appears to be to encourage everyone to prepare.
You can download the Canadian orderform from here. Place your order, then arrange pickup at the Storage Center of your choosing.

Canadian Giant,
The price list is for "packed by customer". The rumour is that you can now only purchase pre-packaged, do you know whether this is still the case? Otherwise, are the pre-packaged cans much more expensive?
Thanks for the link and for any additional info you can provide on this.

Yes they can. We have a few cases we bought last year.
I am LDS as well and this website might help. I have not heard of anything regarding shutting down of canneries but this website will give some good information
