So we are loooking at properties right now , im looking for 10-15 acres , with trees and no services. In the area im looking at the odds of getting a well are excellent.

So:
Trees
Hopefully some privacy
Good odds for a well
Hopeing to find something with another water source (Pond or river) Or we can dig a pond out..

So we want to get the property and bring a trailer and drill a well for under 200k.
After that we want to go completely off the grid. Wind and solar to run everything (even the furnace) With a woodstove as a backup heat source.(Budgeting 50k here)
Get a garden going , get some chickens and rabbits for protein , and a cow for milk.

We live in an apartment right now , but we already bake our own bread , and grow some of our own herbs.

Basically i want to be off the grid completely , if neccassary , wind and solar , grow most of our own food , have multiple water sources. Build a greenhouse etc.
I dont want to be a slave to power , water and gas companies for my entire life.

Any advice for things to look for while we search for properties?
We are in gp and would like t stay in the area , anyone local let me know 🙂

The thing I would suggest is looking before the snow falls. It is hard to tell whether an area is swampy or not once there is snow on the ground. Another thing you might want to look for is a mix of evergreen trees and poplar/birch. It's nice to have a mix of hard and soft wood. You may also want it to be a bit "rolling" so you have a hill to dig your root celler into. Of course the spring is a good time to see if there are spring run-off streams, but I imagine you are anxious to go looking now. Good luck with your search.

We've got land that sounds about right for you but the catch is it's in Australia 😉

There should be some high ground where your residence is going to be that is also suitable for a wind turbine. Check the specs. for how much clearance above the tree line and roof of your home that you need for your turbine. Hills add to the height of your turbine tower. You don't want your turbine down in a valley and the length of electrical cable needed between house and turbine is also a consideration. Line loss and expense both. So keep your turbine in mind when looking at potential land.
