Hi there, this is my first time posting. I'm justing starting to explore prepping.

Does anyone know where I can buy long shelf life goods in Alberta (preferably Edmonton), specifically MREs but I'm also interested in freeze dried foods and the long shelf life canned goods.

Thanks!

Look out for Mountain House at outfitters or camping stores. They have really long shelf life. Check out Birden Solutions , they're out of Cochran (sp?). Thrive brand has very long life. I just ordered MRE's from Costco.ca.
Happy searching.

There is a store out of lethbridge called "In Case of" that i stumbled upon. They do have a website and seemed to have alot of various options for freeze dried food etc.

http://www.incaseof.ca

They were really helpful to a newbie and treated me really well.

If you are looking in the Edmonton area, try:

http://www.cqmsltd.com/Web_Pages/disaster_page_.htm

If you scroll down on this link you will find they carry IMP's (Individual Meal Packs) the meals the Canadian Forces carry to the field. Similar to the MRE concept, the food quality IMO is better than the MRE's. Of course, eating any one type of meal for days on end quickly loses its appeal. Variety, is the spice of life.

The CQMS Ltd store is actually in Morinville, an easy drive from Edmonton.

Mountainman.

We got a case of those costco mre's last week... will be tasting a few on the long weekend; will post a 'flavour' report.

Also got a case of Mountain House freeze-dried entree's that we have tried before but from the mylar bags at the various hunting and camping outlets. They were pretty tasty though a bit on the salty side. We have thrive TVP entrees but have not tasted them yet.
