Does anyone have any information available on-line about making flint lock rifles at home? I don't mean with the kits available at Cabela's or the like. But making something from junk or scratch.
Thanks in advance. 🙂
Howdy Forward,
If you go to the library you may be able to locate the Fox Fire books. They record a treasure-trove of old knowledge from moonshining to quilting to making flint-locks. Even explains how to put rifling in the barrel. This knowledge was gleened from an Ozark Mountain community and recorded as a school project by their children. I forget how many volumes there are 8? 10? 15? You may want to check Amazon to get an idea of which volume you are looking for. For a short time a free PDF version was available online, however, the publisher had that website shutdown.
Good luck,
Mountainman.
Given that you can buy a good one without a PAL, why would you bother?
The sum of the intelligence on the planet is a constant; the population is growing.
Thank you for your replies gc_mount & Ham.
I'll definitely pick up that book. As far as why I would want to know how to build one? If I know HOW to build one I will never be without one even if the one I buy is stolen of destoyed.
Knowledge is easy to carry.
Have a good night all.
Forward,
I had a look on Amazon.com. The Foxfire Book Volume 5. Metal work and Muskets. I think it was Volume 2 that had a foot power lathe. Volume 1 had moonshine.
It is a very interesting set of books.
Mountainman.
