That suited guy in glasses..

You can talk all day about urban survivalism but you can't even pee on your lawn or grow a few jalapeños.

I love the part where the bureaucrat tries to justify his obtuse behavior by citing the dictionary definition...it DOES remind me of the Down Under Dunce.

Even if a sufficient number of people awakened from their entertainment-induced comas tomorrow, I'm not convinced it would be soon enough.

Well, that settles it then...personal attacks are considered trolling.
Crybaby, I mean Thecrier banned.
Everyone can please notice that no action was taken when I was the target, so no, this is not personal.

I hate to see threads locked. Destroys discusion. Would rather read posts even if contrary to my thought. No one was picking on Crier only his thoughs and we are adults if we cant take critisism, or give it, then this board will be nothing but bland post of what new unneeded plastic bobble was found at wally world for your bob. I find those posts insulting....why are they not locked.
Or posts of what people plan to do based on their armchair internet "research" . As someone else said talk about what you are doing, have done, have built, are building, have tried, have tested
Whatever, I got things to do...

Oh.. I still wont be eating my dog

Threads only get locked when they are extremely offensive, or someone has hijacked them for the purpose of personal mud slinging or trolling.
ANY member partaking in personal attacks or insulting another user WILL BE BANNED!

Seems some folks have forgotten about the "Victory Gardens" that dominated front yards at one point.

We hear so much about fresh water becoming a scarcer and that we should be worried....well perhaps if we didnt have so many "suitable" grass filled yards that people insist on watering WAY TO MUCH, then it might not be such an issue.

So less grass more garden =
Conserving Water.
Less money spent at Safeway/Sobeys/etc.
Healthier folks from eating more veggies opposed to pre-packaged frozen microwavables.
Less strain on food banks.

Analog I am with you. The Crier and JAB go back and forth in other threads. I wonder if JAB says things to get a reaction? Then Crier reacts and gets slapped. Just saying that usually when someone reacts to another there is some form of pent up aggression for a reason. The Criers first post in the community was JAB I don't like you so I am going to attack you. Perhaps both need to be cast into the penalty box? Or both let out.

You can only talk about guns, food and water so long. Sometimes a good HOT conversation is what the doctor ordered. Mudslinging happens all the time in real life, so why when there can not be a literal fist fight do we break it off? 2 lockdowns on the top threads will only go so long before members start to leave and all that the site is left with is how to pressure cook chicken 3,000 different ways. The site will get stale and people will leave.

Gravelore...
In just 19 months I have seen this site grow to over 1300 members. A few months ago I took a harder stance on abusive members and since then the signup rate has dramatically increased. If you don't have access to statistics, then don't preach about what will and won't work.
If you don't like this forum, or the way I moderate it, then leave. I will be happy to delete our account and be done with it.
No one is forcing you to stay.
The vast majority of members are tired of those few who make insulting posts and then "giggle" about it.

Can't be talking about Denob at all, I think he sneeks around at night peeing on his property line, wearing his had, pulled low for disguise!
ps. I have a similar hat and do the same thing, on my property as well.

I wish I had the courage to have a front garden. I would grow wheat. But I'm sure we have a bylaw against it too:(

I put a 5' x 10' raised bed garden in this year as a test plot. Plumbing the waters on a number of levels. No interest from the authorities and no intrusion from passers by. Plus it's doing quite well. So far so good.

For plumbing the raised garden beds I had a lady working in my office who ran soaker hose midway through the boxes she kept and had it all tied into a timer. Is seemed like a very clever idea. She said further that she set the level of the soaker hose variably depending on what she had planted in each box. I'm not much of a green thumb but I like to build. We tried our first garden box in miniature 2' x 8' this year. No plumbing required.

Needs must when the devil drives.
