Hello. I am not sure how this will work. But I am looking for people to add to my group. I am a prepper. But not like the ones on that stupid tv show. I prepare for disasters that prevent me from working and being able to live comfortably. But with that being said. It would be very helpful from a opsec point of view to add a few people to my group. I am not interested in people who think its a joke or a hobby. I live full time at my retreat. And while I am still in the process of getting set up, I am getting there. What I would like to set up is a well prepared well secured bug out location for my group to convene at in the event of teotwaki. I am not looking for money like some people are. There would have to be a lot of discussion on storage of gear and everything like that. What I am interested in finding is people that have skills but are singled out because of the prepping mentality. I know I am. I'm hoping to find people that have medical skills, mechanical skills, tactical skills, radio skills, farming/gardening skills etc. I myself am a very well versed person in those skills. Farm kid. The problem is that in the event of teotwaki I am a one man army. Not very secure. Possible people to be considered would have to be met and a interview before being allowed to come see the retreat area. Opsec. The retreat would be open to anyone who at any point find themselves unable to survive. Be it finanachial or worse. Families are welcome and kind of preferred. I would be wanting to have meetings and training weekends. Things like that. Working together to build a community that could survive and prosper when SHTF. if anyone is interested pm me here or send me an email.

"Mod Edit: Hi, this is Farmgal one of the board mods, I have removed your email address from this post, one because the web bots will find it and start spamming your account and two because it better if you can find the time and energy to post two more time (you need three posts before the moderation comes off) and folks can then send you and you can send others Private messages within the system..

Think of it as a form of protection, those that are interested need to put a little more time and effort into reaching you. Welcome to the forum and I truly hope that you meet some wonderful folks that you will mesh with and add to your group :)"

I currently am off grid and not far but not close either from peace river. Open to anyone who truly shares my points of view.

Thanks

Hello Gunny, welcome to the forum. What you are looking for is realistic and fair. I would think almost everyone here would like something like what you propose.
You will no doubt get both positive and negative reactions, but stick to your guns and relish in the advice that will come your way from some very helpful and knowledgeable members here.
A big advantage you might have when running your vetting filter is that you have some background in the skillsets you are looking for. B.S. will get caught in the screen.
I'm guessing you might also have time in which is a plus usually as well. You are looking for order and commitment which will be the toughest skills to fill.
As Farmgal said, get some more posts in and just be yourself. You will attract the ones you are alike to.
One issue I'm sure you are aware of is being up in the Peace Country. There will no doubt be some folks in your area, but a lot of people further away might end up wanting to talk to you. Don't let distance be a factor if you meet someone who is right for your group. Again... commitment.
I wish you luck and hope you have as much to add to this site as you can get from it.

Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...

Hey Quietman. One thing about me is ain't easily moved off my path. Thanks for the advice though. I'm not new to being ready. I went hunting one time for the day. Just walking. Ended up getting caught in a storm in the hills. Thank god i carried the gear i did. I was hunkered beside a tree for three days. Lol. But i am new to the prospects of a group setting. I hope that some people are willing to be part of it. I've found the biggest and hardest problem with prepping. Is being able to relax. I work shift work. And days off are like 16 hour days. Building and setting things up. Ultimately it would be nice to share work load. The old you scratch my back and I scratch yours type thing. It will be a learning curve as well. I'm sure for everyone. But with commitment and dedication I hope it comes to life.

Howdy Gunny,

Welcome to the Forum.

I am sure in the near future, you will get a few more responses. Keep posting and asking questions, as well as, providing your knowledge on topics you are knowledgeable and interested in.

Opsec, understood. That is the tough part about building a community from scratch, letting enough information out (exposing a vulnerability) to attrach the correct persons to your community ( getting a just reward.)

You should have been at our first meeting down here in Bragg Creek, it was a Mexican standoff minus the firearms. So, much tension. But those 6 of us who risked it all to start the ball rolling, are now rewarded with a network of about 40+ persons or family units that are in contact, usually monthly. Now we do not have real estate to work together on, that may develop in the future, or maybe not.

You sit in a enviable position. Take your time and screen thoroughly. You should be able to attrach and build a great community.

Cheers,

Mountainman.

I should have sent you a PM just to meet for coffee as I was in FSJ this week... I didn't even think of it until tonight as I catch up on the threads in a hotel room.

I don't get up here very often but I'll try to drop you a message next time. Of course I'm only guessing that you might be somewhere near FSJ or GP based on the 'north peace' reference... 😳

Hey Dangphool. I'm closer to peace river. But no worries. I was on shift Tuesday night anyways. The joys of camp work. Next time for sure. Or I'll send you one if I get down south. But that's not very often. I think I've only been to Calgary three or four times.

Hello Gunny, my wife and I are a young couple in our early twenties. We currently have a bugout location far outside of Calgary but it is in the opposite direction of your location. I would be interested in being involved with your location as a secondary bugout. We never know what disaster may force a bugout and even more so which directions we will be permitted to evacuate. Basics on us, I am from Tennessee, skilled with alternative energy technologies, my wife from Calgary is a green thumb who is very skilled with primitive survival knowledge like wildlife, what to eat and what not to eat, etc. So basically, if a disaster forced us north we would head your way, if the disaster forced south we would go to original location. Let me know if something like that would work for you. Also, how many people are you looking to add to your group, what would be the total head count at your bugout location, what does your location have to offer? (generator, shelter, farming, etc), Thanks.
