Hey, boss,
Maybe if you broke the question into specifics instead of a generality, somebody near Alberta can help you with suppliers.

Are you looking for water catchment? (How much roof space/ground space are you harvesting on?)
Do you have water rights and a spring?
Pond or creek and looking at a pump system to go uphill? (And how far? What depths and flow rates?)
Do you have water rights and a well? How many people are you looking to support (affects water pressure and gpm you're looking into, especially with something that has options like a well, whereas even an underground or surface spring and creeks/ponds have self-imposed limitations)?
How much time and effort are you looking at putting into water procurement for the home/animals?

Are you looking at electrical?
Is the aim to store a certain amount of time in the form of fuel for a generator, or permanently sever ties?
Are you looking at a gassifier generator?
Solar?
How much solar (or generator power of any kind) depends also on what you're trying to run on a daily (and cloudy for months) basis. Usually battery bank storage comes into play with solar, but they can also be turned by SSG/Bedini circuits, water wheels, wind turbines or charged by another generator to have as a backup when the gennie is down. Fridge, HVAC, CPAP, freezer - what is the total power drain daily? TVs, lights, computers?

Heat?

Are you trying to go to full wood burning, with a gassifier heating system or direct stove system? Wood? Or do you have a coal/oil option?

Septic?

Are you looking for a disconnect from utilities only, or also groceries? (whole big, big, crazy bunch of cans of worms there)

Maybe if you kind of weave people toward a specific thing, somebody can help you more. It's just kind of a big topic to dive into, and kind of depends on situation and desires.
🙂

Sorry for not being specific
Looking for power options what are there out there and for septic systems to but also wanting to store my own water and with hopes to put a water treatment for septic system so I can reuse all water year round and not hVe to store a lot, that's right ladies and gentlemen I want to treat poop water and use the poop powder for gardening and the water for drinking and bathing and if anyone knows where I can get a system for doing that
Any other questions just ask
But my goal is to pretty much make a self contained building that heats itself and can power somehow as well

The last I heard, grey water systems are not approved in AB, so you'd have trouble meeting any building codes. We capture enough water in 3 tanks to last most of July but we only have 4 raised garden beds of 32 square feet each. We were lucky last year and had a few summer thunderstorms to top us off when we needed it. For personal emergency use, we have a 250 gallon, long term storage tank with oxygen stabilizer in it http://www.bridensolutions.ca/250-gallon-super-tanker-white-1193

We hope to add solar panels to our garage when we build it in a few years but have not done enough research, you should check out this thread;

Unfortunately, crybaby removed most of the pictures, he had a sweet set up. There are a lot of links there though.

Sorry, Crybaby hasn't been out to a meeting in while, at least 6 months, probably a bit longer than that. He is the reclusive type, to say the least 😎

I don't reuse waste water, but storing clean water was not very expensive for me.

I bought tanks and placed them in a small structure below ground. Currently i store 4500L of clean drinking water. The water gets replaced as it is used in the house, watering plants etc. I have my well pump it shuts off when tanks are full, 2nd pump installed to feed the house.

Geez, such a simple question! There is alot of variables to be considered before selecting an off the grid backup. Is it sunny where you live and for how long? Is it windy cause that is a cheaper and a better source of power but not constant. And finally, how deep is your pockets?

Likely an easy way to work yourself into these decisions is to watch some You tube vids first. Try this and follow the dude's links for awhile. Then you can start forming answers which will often lead to more questions.
