Inside, the wood ceiling was cut maybe 2 inches in dia larger, then stuffed with batt insulation, I will have to repaint a bit.
And if you remember I had the good looking glass door....it was till the wind blew it over, that why I put the piece from the container on the door.....I wasn't buying another door...expanding foam is your friend and seals tight.
Then inside I will fill the door with batt insulation then screw on a piece of plywood and paint it to finish.

I have to update that high temp silicone comment, and I didn't think to take a pic when doing it but I smeared axel grease around the chimeney first, you don't want the high temp silicone to stick to the chimeney part.....if you have ever been up on a container you would know the roof has bounce... not much near the edge where I have it but still some . The silicone could tear over time from my walking on it if it was stuck to both the roof and chimeney.

How do you find the noise during a rainstorm? I spent a couple years in an old mobile home, and I noticed the metal really amplified the effect.
No noise, I wouldn't know its raining. Maybe if I hadn't insulated it I would hear it but from the showers we have had this summer no noise. No comparisine to the steel of a trailer at maybe 22-20 gauge, and the steel of a shipping container at maybe 12 gauge and corrugated.
Its stunningly quiet when the doors are closed up, just a couple weeks back a couple friends went to Phoenix gun range in Edmonton to shoot and join up, they were telling me it was going to cost them 500 bucks each for a membership and the place is cowded as hell so I was telling them about the container...because its so quiet they are thinking about buying one, doing what I have done and setting it up with a shooting bench in the back. 4 years of memberships and it will have paid for itself and they have a nice private place to shoot in comfort year round. They have their own property to drop a container on, and maybe 200 yards length to shoot. They will pop out to my place and we will do a little "testing" of this idea....finding lots of uses for these things.

They finally had to let me out so now its back to work....first up that stove...top shelf is added, could have used a solid steel plate but I had a piece of perf plate kicking around so I cut it to fit, then added a piece of high temp insulating board on top, cut the board so it goes toward the back where the chimney is, blocking it off and forcing the smoke to go to the front of the stove, across the top, and then out the chimney. This holds more of the heat in the stove......I have been firing it tonight and it makes a big difference. Still a junk stove, but better than it was

well I am not supposed to be driving but a guys got to do what hes got to do so I picked up 2 cord of wood, this is for the shipping container shop, its just to far from the house for me to carry wood to the container right now , this wood is now stacked inside. I have no idea how much wood I will use through a winter, I suspect little but its better to have lots than not enough. The wood is stacked all around the equipment.

Nice. Do you remember when they used to say "Stack silver"? Well I say "Stack Firewood".
I have a Tactical Harness and I have a Tool Belt. The Tool Belt is more Useful.
Here is what I have been working on. I didn't want a repeat of last winter with the tractor sitting, encased in a 6 foot snow bank. Its REALLY REALLY REALLY bad for it.
Someone complained that preppers only show off their expensive toys. Well this was built with only 40$ in fasteners. Everything else was recycled. A destroyed greenhouse was the curvy bars. Recycled roof metal being my #1 most valued survival commodity, collect it any time you can. By the way, Shipping containers ARE dropping in price. Demand Destruction. Deflation. A sign of collapse...or Decline if you like. Less STUFF is being shipped so they are being retired early. Gettem while you can.
Oh. I recently found some recycled insolation so I can get back to insolating it. Yay
