Great little rifle.

And I thought I was actually pretty organized and equipped ... Then I see your bug out bag and something tells me I got a bit of a way to go yet .... Nice job is all I can say

Very organized indeed.

Thanks for taking it out of your gunsafe only long enough to show us how you would carry it in a post-shtf situation. 😉

I don't live in the city. This is my BOB I use to check on calves/horses and 9 km of fence line on my property. I throw in in the back of the side X side and I have everything I need in a pre-shtf emergency.

So I've started compiling the initial list, and here is what I have so far. Please comment on things I may be missing, alternatives to things I've already listed, etc.

Buggies BOB
-------------------

- Large hikers camo/earth tone hip supported backpack, external frame
- fire arm (small game rifle, henry golden boy .22lr perhaps)
- ammunition for fire arm
- 3 days worth of foodstuffs
- 3 days worth of water
- military surplus canteen x2
- fire starter
- water proof matches
- bic lighter x5
- kukri knife in sheath with sharpening tools
- utility knife
- hunting/skinning knife
- led flashlight
- extra batteries as needed
- 1 roll of toilet paper in water proof pouch
- toothbrush x2
- toothpaste
- duster overcoat
- socks x3
- portable water purification/filtration (life straw x2, Purification tablets)
- diary notebook
- ink pen x2
- lead pencil x2
- multi vitamins
- advil
- tylenol
- penicillan tabs
- eating utensils
- first aid supplies
- personal identification (passport)
- winter clothing
- appropriate clothing (dependant on season)
- water proof tarp (earth toned)
- parachute cord x100 ft
- small crank/solar radio
- large brimmed hat (safari style)
- heavy duty hiking boots (pre broken in)
- sunscreen (I burn very easily)
-calgary and southern alberta map
- small portable cooking unit with metal pot or container
- uv resistant eye wear
- signaling mirror

Ideally as well as my BOB, I would also have access to my sks, 1911 (once I've purchased them mid august) and ammunition as well... But assuming that I don't, this is the liust I've come up with. I plan to start putting it all together by the end of the month.

See you all after.

Buggie, book at least a week off in October and I'll drop you off and pick you up at an undisclosed location.

You'll know exactly what you'll need. 😉

Ps, I'll lend you a compass.

Crier that is exactly why I am taking my "BOB" on a couple three day fly fishing and hunting trips this year. Want to see how it works and I figure "real" experience is the way to go. Just hope I dont get out there and figure out I forgot something important.....but you bet I wouldn't ever again.

Crashed, in 1993 I was dropped off and spent a month by myself in two different locations in the month of November. The first location was three weeks north of Nordegg and the last 8 days was south of Raymond in a coulee in a open windy area. I was well supplied......so I thought.

By the end of the third day I reluctantly unloaded at least a third of what I was packing. Useless, heavy and impracticable for the demographics. The next week was great until the rain and snow came. Then all of a sudden it seemed like the game suddenly disappeared. On the 20th day I made it to the highway and hitched a ride into Rocky Mountain House cold, smelly, wet and hungry.

I called my brother in law who gave me a ride home so I could repack, shower and get down to Raymond where I spent a night in a cabin at the local RV park. The next day I was at it again.....

Although it snowed or rained non stop, the conditions were much better even though fuel for fires was harder to find. Another thing, it was windy as HELL! I dont know why anyone would want to live there......

The biggest plus was the numerous pheasants, rabbits and partridge that were abound. Ate well.

So all in all I learned some VERY valuable lessons...... I recommend everyone get out and practice with what their packing.

Crier

Yesterday, my teen daughter took her paycheque and went to Canadian Tire on a bug out mission.... she bought her first bob and stocked it up with as much stuff as she could think of. Thanks for sharing your list Buggie, I got a few tips from it that I hadn`t thought of.

Crier, your practice runs are a good idea, my family is going to follow your lead and test out our skills and supplies... Your pics show a real preparedness - its awesome!

My suggestion to anyone buying a pack is go to Mountain Equipment Calgary and get fitted or learn how to fit your self for a pack, when it is loaded and it doesn't sit on your body right , you wont get far and it will be painful. you dont have to by there just tell the sales person you want a pack but not sure how to fit for one.....they will ask what you are doing so just tell them over night back packing and you figure about 45 liter will do....

So start going to the gym......

Load your pack with the essentials and go for a trek and see how far you get.....
Like the 'crier' says you need to practice and you need to know what you can do, some of you say you want to protect your family, well here's the reality check can you ? or will you just curl up and give up.....there is a lot more to prepping then just building your supplies and thinking that you are ready.....there is the mental game and the physical game; can you handle it, can you do it.....The reality is.. 'NO'.. you cant so get of your ass's and get with the program, it's a nasty world out there and it is going to get a hell of a lot worse.....wake up kids. and learn from the ones that have the training and the experience to help....
Sorry for being blunt but this the reality of prepping, not just building up supplies but being able to survive.....

Better to have it and not need it; then to need it and not have it...
