Not sure if this is taboo to ask or not, but I am in the process of setting up my own bug out pack. I am curious to know what others have put in theirs so that I have a bit of a starting point for what to put in mine. A list would be good!
I'm hoping to gain a bit of knowledge for myself on this, but I also hope that this sparks a discussion on what to put in, what kind of things are bare minimum essentials, what are the "extras", and so on. Maybe everyone else can learn from what others are doing also.
Depends on the season.
WildernessReturn has put up an awesome list for BOB. I've attached a link - it's well worth reading through!

It also depends if you intend hiking with it or throwing it a vehicle. Even a 72 hour pack, the bare minimum, can get heavy. I have more than one depending on the purpose.
We've got three. One in each of two autos and one in the house. The one in the house if our proper Bug out Box if the SHTF and we need out in a hurry. Here is what we have done but understand that it is a work in progress. The box is a rubbermaid container with a lid. In it we have zip locks labeled to find what you need.
1. Fire - 5 boxes of wooden matches (two water proof containers), a flint & steel, and wet fire tinder X 6.
2. First Aid - standard kit + pepto tabs + ib profuen + muskol + diarhea relief + spf 30 + tick remover
3. Tools - good scissors + can opener + multi-tool + hand knife
4. Hygene - 3 tooth brush + tooth paste + bar soap + camper's soap + nylon scrub brush + tp
5. Shelter - 2 two person survival blankets
6. Instructions - Wilderness and Travel Medicine Book + multi-tool instructions
7. H20 - Katadyn water filter and 2 bottles to match system
8. solar / wind up radio
9. 2 X flashlights
10. Food - plastic plates and utensils + 3 days backpackers freeze dry meals + 4 cans fish + 4 cans fruit + 1 box bars + 3 days cat and dog food
11. Change of clothes and good walking boots
That pretty much fills the box. This anticipates driving out of here. If we have to bike, we transfer to paniers. If we have to walk, we transfer to back packs and grab our back country gear as well. We also have $ stashed for emergency in CAN and USD (we're pretty close to the border), enough for gas and hotels if required. The vehicle bags are pretty standard (what if you are stranded on the road?) kits and follow the seasons.
We still have work to do but I'm pretty happy with the work to date.

@thecrier: that thing is awesome! how much does a truck like that run these days, and where would someone pick one up?
See you all after.
Crier...no kidding...you are obviously quite well off by the looks of things and have been in the military or contected...really nice!
hello Crier, you need a slightly over used ex-combat engineer. You've got more equipment then my last unit did. 😉

These ex Swiss military Pinzgauer's can be purchased from importers in Canada and the US starting at about 10k. Mine was out of Colorado via Austria.
The sky is the limit on how much you want to put into these awesome units after spending the money to make them compliable.
Then they go just about anywhere....

I'm well off i guess if compared to someone from a third world country like Honduras.
I've been prepping since 1990 when it wasn't so "in" .....and first started with transforming myself to becoming debt free.
Once the shackles of mortgage payments, vehicle payments and credit payments was off, I was "free" to explore other interests when ever I want.

So true!
Ok, now I just wasted 10 mins watching pinzuagers on youtube 😳
How much does it cost to make one compliant? Are we talking emissions or running daylights? I'm not mechanically inclined so I've no idea.
