fuel injected proubly not so good . carberated not so bad. fuel stabaliser is what you need to treat your fuel with.
oh im late on the fuel stabaliser issue havent been on for awhile. well heres a big surprise they say the blue fin tuna , you know those huge huge tuna that weigh hundreds of pounds that travel from japan , well they say the radiation levels are mutch higher than they were a year ago. well no sh t. but its still safe to eat them . huh... i dont think i will be eating mutch for any kind of fish unless its cot in a creek or lake in canada preferably central canada. that nuclear plant in japan is some scarey stuff. i cant beleave more countrys arent pitching in to help to get that thing under controle. a u.s. general the other day said it has the potential to wipe out the northern hemisphere. well i live in the northern hemisphere, and i dont want to move to mexico, i dont even want to visit that sh t hole. take care preppers.
My main concern is a disruption in the power grid for any extended length of time, for whatever reason. Wars in other countries, Greek defaults, all those things are possible to ignore (if you try real hard). People seem to do it all the time.
I worry about the big Alberta cities when the power is out for more than a few hours. A week with no power would send people to the streets, then to the country. No power = no pumped water, no pumped sewage, no xbox/iphone/escapism, no communications, no restock of supermarkets, and no forced air or radiator heating. An extended power out in summer would be extremely difficult. In winter it would be deadly.
My second most concern would be a deep recession/depression, or currency crisis, and the kind of crime/rioting/societal disruptions that come with it. As an example see the Quebec riots over paying slightly more for tuition. Or when the Canucks lose in the Stanley Cup finals. Those are just the small issues that get people rioting. What if EI was cut? or the money you got from it couldn't buy what it used to? Hungry people are desperate people.
Anyways, the list goes on and on, but that's what worries me these days.
my most immediate fear is the power grid failing. in the late 90's I was involved with meetings of disaster services, and major power consumers in the area. the "facts" are our system is maxed out, and very aged infrastructure. with weather changes comes the real threat of an ice storm, remember two years ago near christmas, at rush hour, and how little freezing rain it took to paralyze calgary. I left the old airport area at 7pm, and arrived in cochrane at 0430 the next morning, and that was with power so imagine the grid being taken down by two inches of freezing rain. add in the overtaxed infrastructure and see brown outs and blackouts due to transformer failures etc. I have had 6 power failures in the last 3 yrs, lasting on average 5 hrs, and one was 18 hrs. so I have a 10,000w portable genset ready and waiting and ways to keep possession of it.
I was an emt during the sars outbreak and what a fiasco that was. most folks don't realize that even the ems staff on duty could not buy an N95 mask to wear in the ambulance when treating patients and we relied on dust masks! we aren't prepared to handle the dead either not to mention total loss of emergency services due to exposure over time. so a pandemic today, could still decimate our population and my major concern is some wacko scientist will develop an airborne ebola for the purpose of thinning out the world for the future, which might be a good idea only if the politicians are taken first. lol
My biggest fear is that too many of my friends and family think we are all nuts.
If a major natural or man made disaster hits our area, contry, continent or even planet, that I must abandon them and find people like those on this site, so that I can survive.
At this poiont I only have the bug out bag and a few other things and this doesn't bug me as much as the above points.
The other big problem I have is the possibility that someday I might be forced to aim or even fire at fellow Canadians wearing a uniform like I used to wear. If all this New World Order, world war 3 or total collapse does happen... We all have to look out for number one and the ones we protect.
So I plan on preppairing, but I will not be in fear until I see something to be scared of.
Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...
WHAT??!!
Another NHL Strike?
Dun uvaditch.
@#$%^&*(+@!!
I'm building my own rink... lol

I agree with traveller's assessment of a "perfect storm". There are so many instabilites in so many various aspects of our society and those of foriegn countries that one more than one problem arising at the same tiem could cause other potential problems to arise and begin a cascade effect where a number of problems interact and prevent us from recovering from a given crisis.
Example, - There is an American presidential election in November. It will likely be the most bitterly fought one in decades if not ever. You have Iran in the middle east with a (soo-to-be nuclear armed or perhaps already nuclear armed) Islamic government trying to preserve itself bordering on an unstable Afghanistan which could collapse into an Islamic nut house basket case also on that boder is Pakistan (nuclear armed) in basically much the same situation as Afghanistan. You have a nervous government inIsreal seeking re-election in order to get a mandate to take firm action against Iran. You have an unstable European economy.
On top of it all you have all of this talk of the GPS constellation getting old & worn out - Gee what a great time to retire the shuttle fleet. Then talk of solar activity knocking out saelites - gee just in time for a presidential election - GREAT! Have fun! 🙂

(and economic crisis at global level)
My biggest fear currently is Fukushima Daiichi and the reluctance of anyone in authority to take steps necessary to entomb the entire mess. Now they want to restart all the other reactors in Japan as they need the power. Currently all the spent rods at Reactor 4 and a large number of brand new ready to use rods are suspended in a cooling pond 100 feet in the air atop the building, which is estimated to be able to withstand a magnitude 1 earthquake. Apparently as well the control unit manufactured by Siemens had a "virus" attack it and the cooling fans at Fukushima as well as a number of other reactors. The cooling fans may have been off-line at the time of the earthquake and resulting tsunami. Had the earthquake not happened the reactor would have been functioning without cooling and might have caused an "incident" at that time although we now may be seeing the results of the delays in acknowledging the danger and dealing with it in a somewhat speedy fashion.. Hopefully, they have the fix for the virus and none of the other currently non-operational reactors are going to be hit with this bug again as soon as they go into start-up or the less money-hungry execs decide against this re-start. Any one with knowledge of the nuclear industry, please help me with my fear and tell me that it is all going to be ok, please..please. 😯

I posted a thread on nuclear info;what I know is that we are far enough away in Alberta as not to worry about fallout....west coast salmon and fish should be fine but anything west of the tip of the aleutian islands I probably wouldn't eat but I wouldn't loose any sleep over the nuclear power plants at this time..They have very good safety systems.....remember there technology is military grade they really don't want the wrong people having it or hackers causing problems.....
Better to have it and not need it; then to need it and not have it...

I disagree...go to fukushimafacts.com, also she and a group have a radio program that they share information on and interview people in the know "oriontalkradio.com (nuked radio with rad chick)...also everytime that jet stream comes and has come our way since the event we are getting radiated...especially in the rain or snow...it is in the food supply, it has now been found in the tuna which is one of the last places they thought it would show up....there are deformations in plants, animals and babies that are occuring as a result ....please check it out and see for yourself.
I understand it that as an albertan, with the rocky mountains to our west, we are relativley well protected from just about anything that comes our way from the plant disaster... that is to say, in a direct sense. However if the food supply has been contaminated, surely it will be making its way out to the other side.
I also understand it that according to the"authorities", the radiation dispersing from this damaged plant pales in comparison to the chernobyl disaster, which resulted in the entire area being contained within concrete, and pretty well isolated from the outside. Im new to these forums and prepping, and have only been researching for a little while, but I feel that once again, our mountains will protect us from the worst. For our BC bretheren however, I wish all the best, and hopefully it is more hype then hell.
and i sure hope im right about the rocky mountains :O
See you all after.
Fukushima should have been buried in concrete immediately after the event...they have waited too long not getting it taken care of...there is a possibility that much of (if not all)Japan, including Tokyo will need to be evacuated...it has been questioned whether that will be to some of the empty cities in China. The jet stream that hits us does not hit Austrailia/NZ, South Africa, South America...other than that we seem to be world-wide pretty much covered by it. I have been listening to each of these radio programs since it began and feel it is benificial to go to the archives and listen from the first show to the most current/subscribe ( even from the radio show they post on you tube) and be notified each time they do a program. This is beyond Chernobyl....I stopped counting on the truth from the people in power long ago, they do not tell us the truth, mostly so we do not panic and revolt. Watch for plant deformities in your area...thick flat dandelions with flat heads, sometimes 3 to 6 flower heads on one dandelion for an example, and the orange dying of the evergreen trees (caused by cesium) so many evergreens here are dying (floppy and sick)...look at the trees, nature shows the results but people don't really pay attention.
i will have to check out that link. thanks for the info.
See you all after.
