haha, Yeah. Im a sucker for glocks too. Something about the ergonomic design. Most favoured hand gun in the Commonwealth. 4s7s8s9s17s18s19s
I've had a 9mm browning Hi-power since 1979, have put over 400 through it and have never had a jam up, I've had 2 miss fires, but 2/400 is pretty damned good. My Hi-standard 22lr target pistol on the other hand, has been nothing but trouble. My baby, is a 38 sp S&W w/ 6' barrel, my target pistol. It has only 6 rounds but even on a combat range, it was my primary weapon, with my 9mm as a backup.

Hi Ranger, is that the Cobra or its bigger brother?
Hey Ranger, with that .22 try using dry graphite instead of gun oil just before going down range. My .22 had the same problem, I wiped the oil off internally and sprayed graphite. No Jams!
The 22 had spring problems also, had to remake the spring and mount for it to work right. The company went under 3 month after I puchased this model, go figure.

I like all kinds of toys ... Things that can reach out and touch ya from a different section of land, and I personally like a cross-draw with a 38 SP and a 9 thigh mounted if I need more.
a 12 gauge popping slugs from a long barrel is kind of like a small cannon on walls or pick me up trucks.
BUT!!!! ... Overall a scoped 22 long gun semi auto with several extra clips is going to handle most situations under 100 yards, and a 1000 rounds is not that heavy to pack around. For me logic says if I have to bug out even for a short duration carrying 75 -100 lb pack plus 25 - 50 lbs of guns is going to be a tough go. Ya we did crap like that when I was in my prime, but I grew to hate running double time with an FN ... I know I don't want to do that now. A 22 will easily punch through a 2 x 4 and things like Mini-mags might get through a 4 x 4 post, I don't usually waste ammo shooting sticks,so I'm not sure, a 22 also has less of a bark with it's bite, so that makes you harder to pin point, and very little kick means you should have less issues, if you don't actually shoot much.

i haven't shot a handgun since i was about 12, my RPAL course is in two weeks, then i have to decide( after alot of research) Ruger SR9 or Smith and Wesson M&P. in 9mm of course.
Anyone out there have a sr9 or m&p in 9mm??? just curious???
I haven't tried the SR9 but please, stay away from M&P. I owned it and the gun was a fiasco. When I compared it to my Glock, Springfield XDm and CZ 75, I decided to nickname it "shotgun". That's how large the spread on the target was.
As far as I was told today by a fairly reliable source the reigning Canadian champ for the IPSC in the 9 mm category is shooting a CZ 75 Shadow and #2 was shooting a Glock but I am not sure which exact model.
The reason this came up was I was wanting to check out a CZ 75B Omega because it is supposed to have an improved triggering system, they kind of convinced me to look at the Shadow as a better choice for only bit more cash.

If you're in the lower mainland, go to dvc and try different handguns there.
Don't follow what others say about the different guns, get what works for you,
And pay no mind to whatever arguments about different calibers,
They are all the right tool and will do the job.
What matters is that you have to have one when you need it and can use it, so practice often.
I have a p239 in 9mm and a makarov in .380, and I can shoot 2-3 inch group off hand from 10m.
And about 10-12in snap shooting with it at 5m.
I got other handguns, glocks and sig and hk, that I'm sad to say I don't shoot as well.
Some will say, "but, makarov in .380?"
I'd say it will do the job, and I got one. Do you?
I know as part of prepping is to have some tools to be able to defend your family. I have learned through this Site that I need to apply for my P.A.L but haven't done this yet. So now I'm wondering since I don't own a gun, would a good quality BB gun work? And if so were would one find metal bbs? As this option could be done with right away no waiting. As of now just learning how to shoot a compound bow which isn't too bad for a first try. Wanting my older children to learn too.
you could go into an hunting crossbow or a compound bow. They can be purchased at a reasonable price and there are a few places that you can go and practice in town. A number of my friends started with a crossbow as they were waiting for their PAL.
If you are set on a pellet gun Army and Navy in new west has a good selection of pellet and bb guns as well as ammo
Hey pellet guns are great, I have a pistol and a rifle, and I tell you it cheaper than regular ammo, and you can fire it in your basement. If any one enquires about the noise, tell them about the nail gun that your using.
