Gun Control in the US??? Might be coming and it may cause our gov't to rethink the whole gun registry thing.

I doubt very much if this will cause THIS government to rethink "gun registry". The problem is many people speak from erronous knowledge. The type of firearms discussed in the article are ALREADY restricted weapons in Canada and therefore subject to stricter regulations, registration and use. True "assault rifles" are prohibited weapons in Canada and illegal other than to a VERY LIMITED minority. Personally I believe the U.S. should explore deeper investigation of individuals attempting to own firearms as is done in Canada and also should have strict storage requirements. This does not infringe on 2nd ammendment rights and addresses the responsibility of the government to create laws that keep the remainder of the population safe. Just my 2 cents.

this is what I think. If the American Government tries to take the guns away from the people, a big portion of the people will revolt. The ensuing revolution will cause American refugees to migrate north into Canada. A number of years ago, the Canadian, Mexican and American gov. signed a treaty allowing law enforcement and military to operate across the boarder and gave all control of any "terrorist" type of activity to NORAD. When American refugees cross into Canada it will give American troops the right to come into Canada and arrest whoever they want. Remember. We are all on a list. They are watching us. Even though all we want to do is Live Free in Peace with all, we are dangerous to them because we are not dependent on their machine.

An all out ban is the next step in Canada since we have to pretty much have everyone and their dog vouche for our sanity here. I have no idea how they can possibly make it any more difficult to own a firearm here.
I visit another prepper forum (thesurvivalpodcast) and the AR's and ammo are flying off the shelves down south of the border. They're afraid......
It will always be within their constitution to own firearms. It will just become harder to own automatics down there, and rightly so. This debate on gun control will continue on thru the eons in the states but the supreme court has already ruled that it is an amendment right.
I do not own a gun but fully autos are ok to me. They are there to keep government tyranny in check.
This is a bit of a violation of privacy rights in regards to gun permits.

wow. The creators of that map are idiots. They basically have informed criminals of all the homes that are safe to rob by telling them what houses have hand guns. Thats really really smart
And people thought it was bad here when a few breaches of the gun registry occurred here in Canada. As they peel back the layers in the US it is becoming more clear why they have a problem. I'll say it again. Rights without responsibility on the part of the individual AND government is a recipe for disaster.

Right on JAB.
Whenever the issue of gun control resurfaces (as it often does) it makes me want to take one of the smug, sanctimonous, liberal types and shove their head into an open cesspool until they can refill on all the crap they're spewing.
When I was a kid in school and I started acting up, I'd get the strap (many of us remember that). When I got home, I'd get my ass tanned. When I started acting up at home, I got my ass tanned. Eventually, (I'm kinda slow) I came to realize that some kinds of behaviour aren't tolerated. Nowadays, if you look at your kids the wrong way, you can be charged for child abuse, or at the very least, you'll have child welfare at your door every week to check up on you. At the schools, if a teacher disciplines a child, they can be charged and dismissed (fired). The kids know this. They know that we have to tolerate their behaviour or we get in trouble. We're not allowed to teach them boundries, even though we're expected to. Add to this all of the violence in the media. Daily, kids are bombarded with television shows that send the message that it's easy to kill and even easier to get away with it. Even though most realize that it's just fiction, you're always going to get those who will come to believe in it. Put that together with the fact that it's illegal to teach them that actions can have consequences and you've got trouble.
Back when kids could be disciplined for bad behaviour and God was still allowed in school, people didn't often hear of mass schoolyard slayings and such. Maybe, if people were to smarten up and quit tolerating bad behaviour and quit tolerating all these whining, pee-pee assed, liberal, whusses telling us how to raise our kids, we wouldn't have so many of these schoolyard murders.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating that we should start beating our kids but I do believe that we should be allowed to discipline them when they want to start getting out of hand. I have only resorted to physical discipline twice. Neither time could be considered abuse by any reasonable person (I said any reasonable person). The first time was my common law wifes, 9 year old son (a real little snot) his entire outlook changed when he learned that he would get punished for his poor behaviour and he never had to be punished like that again. The second time was for some back talk, that also never happened again. He's grown up now and he's a good man. He also told me that he never forgot and that it was one of his defining life lessons (both punishments were minor but memorable).
Guns don't grow up to murder people.
The guns didn't commit those mass school slayings.
Those slayings were committed by kids who were taught that it's easy and the consequences are minor.
Those slayings were committed by kids who were bullied by bullies who were never hauled out behind the wood shed.
Don't blame the guns.
Blame the system that created those kids.
It's not the guns that need more controls, it's the system that needs to be controlled.
I know I'm ranting but I believe that it's the system that'll cause a collapse, not guns. But hey, what do I know.
Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.
VERY WELL SAID tazweiss. When will the rest of society finally stand on their hind legs and denounce the bullshit of large "L" Liberals and experts who have brainwashed people into giving up all facets of their independance and into accepting that governments and professionals know best. Society was much cleaner, much kinder, much more sane and MUCH more real when the People ran it and the government served the People.

15 years ago me and my friend were in a mall and saw a man give his kid 2 swats on the bum. Some old lady (70's) said to him that it was abuse and she should report him. The man said to the old lady "You shut your trap or your next"! The old lady went on her way and nothing happened to the man. I know this because my friend worked at a storefront where the incident took place.
It was awesome.
If he didn't discipline the kid then, he probably would have mugged the old lady a few years later.
