Then maybe it's a good sign when kids never come to my house on Halloween....I always thought it was my big baby rottweilers fault!
Sure !!!! Blame the dog. Ate your homework too, I suppose? HAHA
You've Got To Be Tough, If You're Going To Be Stupid.
Ihwaz,
You are right about spoiled. I bet half the younger ones will give up the will to survive after 4 days without cell phones, internet and Xboxes.
4 days?
Ha...try 4 hours!
Denob,
I was trying to be optimistic. Some might take longer than others. I think it will be a slow lingering death. ...... even if it is 4 hours. <snicker>

That is a good idea, in a situation, go over to neighbors first and ask where the city or community will be holding a food/water give out lineup.
Then they will think you have nothing and are not preppared except maybe you have a generator that will last for 1 day on fuel. LOL
And I really don't want people that did not prep that also have kids camping here at my place. Not trying to be mean
but non prepper kids might be a spoiled bunch that need alot of looking after. I could see alot of non-preppers might take
things for granted and waste some of your supplies, ie: throwing out food that is not like what it used to be,
wasting toilet paper, not licking their plate clean so that washing water lasts longer,
wasting water instead of saving the wash water for toilets or washing feet, etc.
Last fall we had a 3 day power outage caused by a wind storm.
It was interesting to see that most of my neighbors started up the generators, or otherwise dealt with things.
Those that had no preps whatsoever, simply left as soon as they knew how long it would last.
Last year a nearby town had a 2 day outage while I worked there. Many in my town have generators, this town had none (at least running). It was completely dark and quiet both days and the wolves were even coming in at night as there was no street lights to hide from. Fuel shortage would definitely become an issue quick here though because this 10% ethonal crap doesn't keep well even over the winter so no one stocks up much anymore. We used to store plenty extra because when the power goes out here(which it does 3-4 times a year), folks still need gas to go fishing! We have plenty of hydro dams near by and still own generators.
Goldie,
I agree, totally.

I know this is going fringe ish... but just to be clear most of us do not believe that bad things that's going on in the world is a punishment. It is simple everyone allowed to make their own decisions each decision leads to a consequence most choose wrong. If I over eat I'll get fat. If I eat health I stay skinny. G-d doesn't make me fat as a punishment for gluttony ..... just a result of my choice. And if someone is threatening me or my wife, I will not hesitate to pull the trigger.
Agreed!!! I have been reading through this entire thread. I am preparing to survive -- regardless of what the situation is. I am CHOOSING survival. I am preparing to survive if there is a week-long power outage. I am preparing to survive if I bug-in in a city full of desperate people. I am preparing to survive if we have to bug-out and find a place to lay low or have to survive in the wilderness. I prefer it never comes to that, but if it does, I'll be ready. I am preparing for my kids, my mom, and myself, and fortunately, at the age or 73, my mom can still get around pretty well and hike decent distances. If someone were to threaten my life, the life of my mother, or especially the life of my children, I would also not hesitate to pull the trigger (be it a gun or a crossbow, and I plan on having the crossbow at the very least, but likely the gun, too). Will I feel good about it? No. Will I suffer psychologically afterwards? Yes. Will I ever be the same again? No. Will I enjoy my children for another day and know I didn't leave them parentless in a harsh world? Yes.
non preppers .... not licking their plate clean so that washing water lasts longer,
wasting water instead of saving the wash water for toilets or washing feet, etc.
I forgot to say , non preppers might even leave the dishes and sweeping for you todo.
"I don't have to stock up, when SHTF, I grab my gun and I'll just take yours"
LOL. When I hear this I laugh. If you're too lazy to prepare now, there is NO WAY you are going to track me uphill through the mountains carrying a hhundered pounds of ammo while you are starving. No way. Meanwhile Ill be healthy becuz I have prepared and know the forest provides what I need to keep going. I also know that Ill see you long before you see me.
See, the problem with this kind of thinking is, ok. shtf. No problem, I.got ammo. Lets raid. so u find some poor preppers to beyeour firstvictims. u kill them. maybe rape the women. eat their food, heck, eat them too. Ggreat. That was sucessful! I gota amonth or two worth of food. YAY! Except two months later your back to square one. so u do it again. afterseveral times tho, u realize its getting harder. the only people around now are peoplelike you. Soeither someone will get the drop on u first, or your raid will go wrong and either way, u will die. This type of living is NOT SUSTAINABLE. You depend on ppl to raid. As preppers we.should be striving towards independent style of living. Self sustainabilityy. My stytle of prepping involves such. A 9 year old can be taught toshoot well. Lets be real, shooting IS a skill, but it aint rocket science. But they will never live long enough to shoot if they starve, dehydrate, or succumb to the elementsfirst. Remember the rules of three. Three hours, three dayts, and three weeks. Get guns, get ammo, but deppend onlyy on what u know and your barehands.
"I don't have to stock up, when SHTF, I grab my gun and I'll just take yours"
What makes them think a prepper doesn't have a gun for when SHTF ? LOL
It's not all about food and water. Many preppers have guns and are preppared to shoot.
( granted many preppers don't have guns, but how will they know which ones have guns and are prepared
to shoot, i would think many more non preppers don't have guns )
I sometimes wonder...with this being Canada, how many of the people with guns actually have bullets?
Think about it, according to law most of our fancy guns are relegated to range toys. So how many non-preppers have a cool Glock 17 that they bring to the range, shoot a few boxes of ammo that they bought at the counter, and then go home again with an empty gun? If they have any bullets in the house are they even hollow point?
Even the street thugs with their proverbial chrome 45, how much of a stockpile do they really have? How fast will they blow through it if they start getting up to no good?
