Just some food for thought. This is from world war 2 I believe. An awful lot of people seem to post in some of the other forums a lot of detail about what they have stored. Is this really a good idea? Not only will desperate people come after your preps if SHTF, but so will the government...

That's so awesome...but scary too! I love ww1 or 2 propaganda posters.

I don't think that posting makes much of a difference. If it came down to that, the authorities wouldn't necessarily have to scour the Internet to find food hoarders, they would just wait on neighbours to rat each others out.

"You still look healthy and chubby while my kids are starving? You must have food stashed, I'll call the Canada Food Board on you!!!"

Morale of the story, if it came to that, purposefully reduce your diet to lose a few pounds, regardless of how many chocolate bars you have stored amongst your rice, pasta, etc. 😉

The reality is, the internet isn't anonymous. IP addressed are easily found and if the gov't wants to know..they already know. lol. If you've posted on this forum, or any other forum...your not anonymous.

Personally, the secrecy and compartmentalization preppers are so renowned for isn't as big a priority for me. I dont broadcast it...but I dont exactly hide it either. The more we share, educate each other...the better off we are in general. I like the thread on what people are doing. It gives me ideas, shows me something new. Thats what a forum is all about. Whether or not there is someone in the gov't recording IP addresses and tallying everything up is moot to me. So they know or they don't.

Basic internet safety is probably all i pay attention too. 🙂

I am sure that most people posting to that thread are like me and post only a fraction of what they are putting up.
The idea of the government breaking down your door and taking your supplies has been blown way out of proportion by the typical fear mongering "alternative media snake oil salesmen".
Keep in mind that the average prepper is a very small target...
Yes, gathering and storing food supplies for a family of 4 for a year is a monumental task...certainly not to be taken lightly, but when the government needs food to feed people in "relief centers", they are looking at lets say 400 people in a small center like the local school gymnasium.
Suddenly, that years supply turns into a 3 day supply. Not worth the effort when they can target grocery distribution centers, force farmers to grow certain crops (see the CPN blog movie series Wartime Farm), regional food banks, etc.

Well the Gov already knows of the LDS preppers which is easier group of people to find and they have
community centers and would be gathering .

Meanwhile I would not think we are currently hoarding . We are planning and prepping.

To me hoarding is more when there is actually a ration happening and everyone is allowed 1 bag of sugar a month,
1 bag of flour a week, 1 tin of beans / person / day , etc.
And you make sure to get all your rations whether or not you use them or need them so you can barter with your neighbor.

Right now I see no difference in our own choice of things we decide to spend our money on. Some people
waste money and preppers are making wise choices. We could stock up on 20 towels on sale or
we as preppers might stock up on 20 bags of rice.

And if they started to watch who was thin or fat, you should also use your dirty garden duds , and possibly some
overly light makeup foundation to make yourself look very anemic .

I agree with Aaron here. Im sure everyone draws their own lines in the sand and some are a lot more conservative than others. I think info sharing is great and obviously one shouldn't give up much as far as personal planning or an agenda. Problem is and Ill be quite honest here, is when you get closer to people there is an inevitable circumstance of this naturally happening. Sharing general knowledge is great but just how much do you share at all is the question?

Whatever tomorrow brings,… I will be there! 😉

Posting what you have prepped away is inspiring for some people. Unfortunately for others it's just an inventory of supplies that they can draw on by force. I'm not saying you can't trust people, just be selective who you trust. I have met people who are prepping ans others who are looking at taking what they need when they run out.

If a person plans on 'taking' to survive, just remember the odds. Sooner or later, someone is going to be tougher, faster, and better armed.

I actually find I get good ideas and inspiration from the thread. I have never once had any ulterior motive reading it , so to those who post, I say 'thank you' . And I will admit that I think to myself that it would be foolish for me to assume I know any persona on here and have them figured out by any facets they reveal , even if they are honest and are not misleading . I consider what they chose to share of their additions to their preps to likely be judiciously thought out and I am respectful of that.
