Hello all,

I have been prepping for about three years now and think I am almost done. I don't think we are ever done. I an open to meeting other Kamloops preppers to share ideas with or look into the possibility of forming the "Group". I have many years in the military and could provide that aspect. I plan to bug in unless things get so bad in Kamloops that I would have to leave. This decision would be based on how deep the collapse goes and not having the saftey in numbers. I believe that Kamloops would still be able to provide me or my group with the things I/we need to survive long after the collaspe. BBQ marmot, yum yum.

Welcome! Good to hear from another prepper in BC 🙂

On the point of your bugging (in/out) plan, one thing you might try is planning for a second or third alternate strategy/route for each, if you haven't already.

Off topic, being CF, what do you think about the return to the "Royal" moniker? lol

So, I'm curious if in your experience with the Forces you've come across gear that you think would be useful for stockpiling or purchasing for use in a bug out/in situation?

Hey Hammer

1st thing,I am very happy to see the Royal moniker come back. 2nd thing, my bug out bag is all military type stuff. One thing I would recommend for bug out is the canteen with the canteen cup. Its very tuff, light, and does not take up alot of room. Its great for cooking or heating water. As for bugging in I would try not to look to military because that would just tell everyone that I am prepared. Check out the site Basic Life Essentials, its where I got all my long term food prep supplies. I just ordered the Seychelle 28 oz water bottle that makes water safe to drink. Watch the video on it, its looks awsome.

I'm glad to see it back myself. I'm looking specifically for military gear. I know some gear is more comfortable, or more effective than others. For example, the RAF Flight suits are more comfortable and hardier than the new one-piece OD flight suits. Also, older US Army ALICE frames make for much easier carrying of the '82 pattern rucks.

At present I have an unlabeled military pattern arctic sleeping bag. It's falling apart, and I'm looking for one that will fit my compression bag. I also have a black betty, which I find much more effective than the air filled foamies the CF uses now. In the end, my ideal kit will be a 2 piece load bearing vest with drop down components, or a lightly packed vest, drop downs, and a balanced ruck. Right now, I have a mixed pattern velcro OD web pack, and a black omega blackhawk Medic vest.

And I'm curious exactly how you might have been instructed on the use of IMPs lol. I got some basic instruction through cadets, but I have no idea what the thought was behind a lot of the "features" of the IMPs.

Alright Hammer

I dont know anything about fight suits,511 tact gear is way more comfortable. I dont use the '84 pattern frame I use the '64 pattern frame with the '84 bag. I dont use a military sleeping bag, I bought a better bag at Wholesale Sports when they were on sale. I myself still use the black betty or the ridge rest. If you want a good load bearing vest check out CP Gear on line(discount bin), there stuff has been used overseas and it works. Is your vest for carrying just supplies or is it for a weapons platform? I have many years of eating IMP's, they cost alot of money if you buy them on civi street and they only have a self life of about 4 years and carrying 72 hours in your bug out will be heavy. You might want to look at a lighter option.

Hello Ihwaz

Glad to see there is another person getting ready in our area. I have family in Kamloops and when TSHTF I want them to leave because I worry that with most people's "me only" mentality and people coming up from the coast that it could get pretty hairy in town.
