Thought I would amalgamate all the Nanaimo preppers as there seems to be a few. I am really new to prepping. So new I am just in the thought process and have a lot to learn. I am 32. I have 3 kids whom live with their mother. I am just researching food prep and coming to grips with the costs ( and benefits ) Just wanted to start a thread so all the mid islanders can have a place to connect!
Where is everyone else at in their prepping?
I'm not actually on the island, but I'm presently in the same basic shape as you. I have a super basic bug-out bag, made out of an Olive Drab Chest Rig, and a load bearing Tactical vest. I haven't really done much "prepping". Just what I already had for exercises with the Cadet Program.

Just got back from my first shopping trip for prepping will update the deals I found L8R
7 Gallon water containers with spigot 10.96 at Walmart right now.
I am on a budget so instead of hitting the town I went shopping ( not nearly as fun ). I had $100 to spend I was able to get:
54 cans small, med and large of Veg, legumes, meat, fish, soup, stew
8lbs of pasta
2x 7 gallon water jugs
20 surgical masks
goggles
gloves
fish line
hooks
40m of rope
safety blanket
poncho
7 differnt medical supples
sanitizer
latex gloves
3 small propane tanks
Still had enough left for Taco Bell! I was able to get a lot more than expected. I realize I need more and did not buy items in priority but by price or sales. .... and so it begins
hey not bad for $100!! have you checked out your local dollar store?? i find so much good stuff for prepping in my local dollar store, im truly amazed every time i go in there how much i walk out with. But hey you have to start somewhere and walmart is a darn good place to start. Have fun with it, happy prepping!!
