a3xdaddy,

I am not a gun dealer, nor any type of expert but to the best of my knowledge used firearms are bought, sold, traded and bartered everyday in this country. Most gun dealers will have the used firearms out of the way but they will have them. Just ask. I hear the SKS is a very reliable firearm and you can even get aftermarket stocks for them so they are more useful than the laminated plywood stock that it comes with.

The Simonov SKS is a wonderful rifle. I have one, and I've seen them endure some pretty horrible punishment. A buddy of mine buried one in mud, and subsequently drove over it several times and he was able to unbury it and fire it without issue.

Most firearms stores will carry used firearms.

marstar is a Norinco dealer - chinese knockoffs. Affordable, I have a few friends that own a Norinco. Man I just got rid of my SKS! Too much maintenance for my liking. Yes if you want used guns just go to a gun store and ask!

The SKS's that Marstar is selling aren't "knockoffs". They are Chinese military surplus. If by knockoff you mean it isn't a Russian SKS then yes you are correct... but the ones they are selling are Chinese Military... NOT civilian models. Curious what the maintenance issue was for you?

I think it just was the cheap ammo made for much cleaning. I traded it in for a Ruger 10/22. My wife says I can't but anymore guns so I have to trade them in now!

Norinco has no issues with quality, usually. When it's good, it's great. But when it's bad, you just call marstar and they fix it so it's good.

My only problem with the chinese military versions is that they're made with replica parts and machines, purchased from Russia. As with any other replication/duplication there will always be lower quality than the original.

I find my Simonov SKS is very low maintenance. Yes, clean it after every day at the range, but that's easy as heck. 5 mins. You want to break down the Trigger group? Add 5-8 each way. Still, not bad. And cheap. And accurate. And powerful VS soft targets/armour.

LOL... yes indeed.. the surplus ammo is corrosive and dirty. At that price though it is worth an extra few minutes cleaning to me. You have my condolences Sir... enjoy your Ruger though... GREAT firearm.
