hey duffman, you might consider checking out www.simplesolarhomesteading.com the guy has some pretty good ideas on the topic. he wrote his own book on how he built his own solar setup etc. he's on youtube as well, worth a look IMO, hope this helps

Serch the internet for a used wind turbine from a sailboat.
Lots of old sailboats are being scrap salvaged because they are getting old or the owners are up grading to solar because a lot of the marinas don`t allow wind turbines because they are noisy
