We picked up some Mountain House entrees and a case of MRE's from Costco (normally I'd encourage supporting your local vendor which is why my first order of freeze dried products came from a Thrive Consultant in Cochrane.
We are going to try some of the food out on the long weekend and I'll try to remember to give a taste-test review...

I wanted to know how much these MRE's cost at Costco and what do they taste like? Also what are good bulk foods to buy that don't need to be pickled or vacuum sealed? Any help would be great!
Thanks.

403,
MRE's were designed for the military, full of calories, and many different flavours. They work great for what they're intended for, keeping a person going with as much caloric intake in a small package as possible. These work great in an emergency, but IMO if you're looking at long term food storing, I would take some of the advice offered in this post as far as storing dry pastas, grains and spices, and probably have a pack MRE's to go with it. I've eaten MRE's before, it was a great way to stay up all night, but I would definitely take a regular dinner over that any day. Just my thoughts, good luck with your preps.
