Folks, I've decided to test out my overall fieldcraft and my BOB. I've wondered for so long how my gear would hold up, how I would hold up, and whether or not I would be able to maximize the use of everything I take.
My BOB weighs in at a hefty 38 pounds - and that's after trimming it down and changing it abit to service only one person. My wife and I are headed 4x4ing for the afternoon, after which she will be dropping me 20k up a deactivated forest service road. No cell, no GPS. I have travelled the area many times, so I do have knowledge of where I'm being stranded.
I'll be spending 2 nights up there on the hike down. I need to make it 15k down before I'm within radio range of the logging road still in operation.
I'll be recording alot of specifics, and sharing it all with you! I was hoping someone would accompany me on this experiment, but there wasn't much interest when I asked, so wish me luck!

Good luck FV, you will probably have a blast. I just got back from 4 days in the mountains on horseback. The worst part of the trip was packing up the tent to come home. If you don't decide to stay, I'll look forward to hearing about your trip.
