I have a question and would appreciate anyones experience in this regard, thank you. Can freeze dried food stored in #10 cans survive freezing during storage and the effect on shelf life. EG.Unheated winter time storage in Canada.

Much of my Emergency Food Storage is #10 Can's and Mylar pouches of Freeze dried product.
They are kept in a "Pantry" type closet that has an access to an unheated Attic so it can get cool in the winter, but never anywhere near freezing.
We all know that heat will compromise the cans and seriously shorten the shelf life of the product, but freezing?
I wouldn't think that freezing that have any serious affect on the cans, as the product inside is already Freeze Dried so there is nothing in them that can expand when frozen to conpromise the cans. They should be o.k.

Anyway, to answer your question about the National Defence Authorization Act 2012, This is not good news. There are many of us here in the states that are quite concerned with this legislation. We no longer have any protections under the law from our own government. They can now label any of us as terrorists and detain us indefinitely without trial. Canada is looking quite attractive to me now, and not very far away as the border is less than an hour from our home.

Listento me and DaScribbler : I would wonder about temp extremes from very hot to very cold in the same space but if it is more of a range from chilly to warm, it should fare okay.

I worry for my southern neighbors as well. Big Brother is getting all encompassing... what works in your favor is your immense population and the incompetency of government, there is no way that they can possibly track all the people for every little thing that we hear about regarding these laws they are trying to pass. I watched the sopa/pipa with interest, freedom of information is a precious thing- and there is already enough piracy legislation in place, so sopa/pipa was redundancy. Everything is getting so micro-managed it is unbelievable.
