Alright, it's been a while since I was last on. Since then, I've acquired a CB mobile unit, an antenna, and an SWR meter for calibration.
So I guess what I'm looking to find out is:
A) what sort of success has anyone had in building a base station out of an automotive CB unit?
B) Who is on the radio net, where, callsign, and channel.
Post.... NOW!
Go! Go go go! What are you waiting for!?

Hope for the best
Not being from your area, I can't address what channels, etc are active there.. but as for using a mobile as a base, it's basically the same except you need a decent power supply to run it. a 12 volt car battery will do, but if you want to run on AC be sure to get a regulated powers supply of at least 2.5 (assuming the CB is still at rated legal power output) make sure you have the proper fuse installed on the positive power wire too. Power supplies can be found cheap at ham radio flee markets. don't try using a battery charger though... (poof)
As for call signs, the CB band is so abandon by authorities now, there has been licenses nor callsign in Canada or US for years.
Thanks for the advice!
As for callsigns, it may be abandoned by authorities but everyone i know who uses CB uses a callsign. Just gimme what you will answer to! Lol

I'm on the Island here, Hammer.
What model radio and antenna are you using?
Is it only AM? SSB?
Radio is an EDS something something and the antenna I'm not sure about. I haven't had a chance to set it up as it may involve some modification and I'm not equipped for it yet.... and I'm trying to use a vehicle radio/antenna on a house XP. The rest, I'm not sure about. I believe SSB.
