An X3 solar flare has been detected. Currently, we are waiting for information on directionality.
Also, one of the biggest sunspots of the cycle has now rotated towards earth.

Any news from your end?
Well, it must have been a glancing blow, nothing direct.
The chances of geomagnetic storms right now are as follows...
mid latitudes - minor 5%, severe 1%
High latitudes - minor 20%, severe 15% (going up to 20% after 24 hours)
Generally, high latitudes start at the 55th parallel...most of us live well below that, but there are some hydroelectric generator station in that latitude.
Although X3 sounds bad, and is stronger than all those M class flares lately, it really isn't all that bad in and of itself. It may however be an indication of something bigger. Then again, predicting flares is next to impossible, so maybe not either.
To put it in perspective, the 1989 Quebec blackout was triggered by an X15 flare, and only lasted a few hours.
Thanks.
Thanks. Ill go put the generator and one of the motor cycles in the shipping container.
I have a Tactical Harness and I have a Tool Belt. The Tool Belt is more Useful.
