Hi there, I was wondering if anyone can help me with some primitive bread ideas. I want to make a simple, low ingredient bread (that tastes decent). I would like to be able to make it in almost any conditions. I purchased hard red spring wheat, stone ground. Thanks so much!!

Boy Scout Biscuits or soda biscuits. A staple of those on the move. Ad whatever you got to it. Raisins, bacon, cheese, wild berries, 3 day old coyote....

1 cup flour
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons cooking oil

Can be cooked on a stick if necessary.

Do you have a temperature and cook time or is it only over a bonfire kinda recipe?

If you have had the breakfast sandwich at Tim Hortons, you have already had a soda biscuit. There will be a hundred versions on line. Cooked in the oven. Done like a pancake. Or baked in a dutch oven. Or cooked on top of a stew like shepherds pie. Or even on a campfire rock. Some plop it right on the coals.
I remember the stick trick straight out of the old boyscout manuals. Like doing a hot dog.

Going old school. It was part of the minitmens pack. Smoked bacon was also brought wich provided the oil.

sounds good, I'll try these. Maybe without the 3 day old coyote!! I was looking for something I could cook under all conditions, on a fire, in the oven, or even In a wonder bag(box, oven?) I noticed that most cultures throughout history have had some kind of bread product they made for survival. Obviously indigenous to the area which is why I picked that kind of wheat.

Check out no knead bread. You can add your own herbs to it to make it your own. Delicious!!!
Very easy and can be cooked anywhere. Keeps for a good while too with a harder crust.

I make my bread with flour, salt, yeast and water. That is the basic recipe. You can add whatever additional flavourings you like, i.e. herbs, spices, garlic or onions, cheese, hot peppers, etc.
