Hi,
Gardening is the part of the home which improve your home visibility and beauty. In the another way of Gardening and agriculture we can say ,ploughing the field growing the crops and vegetables etc.but they need growing product like feed, proper temp, dark and off course light. In night The use of the spot lights, patio lights, decking light and also solar lighting product will helpful in preventing the garden,in decorating purpose and the security purpose.
Also The solar products are free to run being powered from renewable natural light. In this way they do not use mains electricity. Mains electricity still largely provided from carbon emitting power sources. So using solar products rather than mains powered devices reduces carbon emissions which contribute to global warming.so for prevent the global warming is the use of solar products.

Looking for the outdoor garden lights : Garden Lighting and Outdoor Garden Lighting.

Global warming issues aside, I use renewable energy whenever possible for economic reasons. Anything not plugged into my house power is something I don't get a bill for at the end of the month. I use solar lighting to light up pathways at night and plan on building/installing wind power for all my out buildings...garden shed, chicken coop, wood shed, etc. I have 110V flood lights pointed around the yard for brightly lighting up the yard for security reasons, but rarely use them.
I believe we were just spamed with this topic, but that aside, it brings up an interesting point - outside lighting. Denob, can you share more information on your solar flood lights, please?
Hope for tomorrow; Learn from yesterday; Live for today.
Nothing special about the lights I have now...just plain ones I got on sale at Reno Depot...$15.00 for 8 lights. Some have broken already, but I use those to charge batteries. The real fun will begin when I start with the wind power system. I don't plan on using this lighting for outside but rather inside the outbuildings for when I need to rummage around after dark. I'll keep everyone posted once the project begins.
Global warming is the natural cyclic process the planet goes and is currently going through.
nothing to do with us, your paying taxes on a con game.
agree. agree. for both, its not us, but we are doing other bad things to earth, and I hope more people by solar so the cost comes down for me. I love the Canadian tire tick in the ground solar lights, some i have had on my bush path for years, even through winters.
Well I think it is a pretty pompous assumption to assume "it´s not us" and be done with global
warming - think, we are close to three times as many as we were in 1945 (when the 2nd world war ended)
and what with the BRICs countries now taking part in the industrial mess...
but let´s not fight about that - for the moment the industrialist lobby has won the argument,
burn baby burn.
I use solar lights simply because my country home has no electricity land connection and I
dont´want to "not be a part of global warming" (just in case the the possibility *might*
still be allowed to exist) by running a generator all day long - it is just too damn loud and expensive.
Are you folks all living in suburbia ? Well me too, but only part-time...
so to speak, I run my country home as a prep scenario.
Matter of fact, I bought it in 2002 with exactly that in mind.
I have several battery setups (a serious gel battery weighs abt. 40 kilos minimum, got two -
so I wanted something easier just for alarm etc.), some panels and the generator only for emergencies,
or washing and stuff like that. NO refrigerator, that isnt necessary even in summer
(we get about 41 degrees Celsius in summer, still a refrigerator is for weany-beanies).
The lights I use inhouse and out are without exceptions led lights, some with small panels of their own
(wherever possible, you know the kind), outside several have movement sensors.
The Chinese are the ones who do the cutting edge solar/led stuff these years...
and they are becoming rather environment-conscious, we should have a Chinese forum here soon 😉
Whatever, getting enough lighting power for running a greenhouse all year long,
not forgetting the paraffin heaters you might need in winter, will cost you -
depending on greenhouse size - about, say, a minimum of 800 Dollars to be efficient.
The big blue professional panels only gather energy when it is *rather* light -
in winter that may be between 10 am and 5 pm if the sky isnt too cloudy.
so one should also have the black Chinese ones (the little lamps have those
by default) as they arent as powerful and dont last that long, but they do react
even when there is very little daylight.
You can lighten 5 rooms with maybe 25 watts of led lighting but do not
expect it to be enchanting, it will be rather low-key 😉
Of course there is no need to leave the house lighting turned on at all hours -
the way we were used to - and it is handy to always have some miner´s headlights
and flashlights (all on the about 150 or so Ni-Mh rechargeables I also store and routinely recharge
at least every two months, used or not - batteries need VERY good care) around
for emergency use, like zombies or terrorists stalking the neighborhood 😉
Tip : dont use a flashlight with a gun crossed-over coplike the way they always show on TV,
you might end up dead before you can even see the other guy...
oh, I´m just horsing around now of course.
Well I think it is a pretty pompous assumption to assume "it´s not us" and be done with global
warming .
Pompous assumption to assume that I don't think we are warming up, we are. Call me what you like, but I know I,m right. and soon it will come out. Soon as TBP take there grip off the real scientist telling the true story of global warming. Carbon tax is a money grab, the Earth will warm up 2 degrees and that's it, heading into the golden age. Just sit back and it will slowly come to main stream at some point soon. And as far as I can tell at this point, the global warming push is a cover up for a more evil plan larking around the corner, possibly ww3, you know the war machine needs to increase it coffers. stay cool, peace and love.
I recently picked up a couple of boxes of solar powered garden lights. Each of the lights has a small solar cell and a 1.5v AA rechargeable battery. There's a photovoltaic cell that is used to turn them on and off. The light source is an LED.
I've found that in the winter months, they don't really get enough sunlight to charge the batteries, so some nights they only go for a couple of hours before the batteries are flat. I don't think the tiny solar panel on each is very efficient at collecting sun light, plus being low to the ground, they are often in shadow, which shortens the exposure.
Look for LED spotlights with a separate solar panel so you can put the spot where you want and the panel where it has to be to gather sunlight.
I've bought several types of solar garden lights and had mixed results. Some are brighter than others and some aren't worth the box they came in. My favorite so far is a 3 LED flood light with an attached, yet adjustable panel on top. Very bright and last a good amount of time. The worst are the typical plastic ones on a short stake. They are dim, don't last long, and break easily.
Check out a website called Super Bright Leds. http://www.superbrightleds.com/ I've experimented with 2 of their composite light sources. They are both !!BLINDINGLY!! bright, at least a 100w equivalency, and they run on 90mW and 130mW resp on a 12v solar system. Some of SBL's products come ready to use, others need you to be handy enough to retro fit them into your own fixtures. I've even tried some of their composite bulbs that fit into automotive sockets, excellent for sheds or porches.
cheers
David
