Can someone tell me why all of a sudden I am getting this notice and what I might possibly be able to do about it?

Firefox can't connect securely to ----- because the site uses a security protocal which isn't enabled.

I get this when going to any page that has twitter or face book links on it, started 2 days ago AND yesterday now my bank. 😡 Most frustrating!

Now I have changed nothing on here at all...so can't figure that out.

This is where your search engine comes into play. Copy the important phrase "because the site uses a security protocal which isn't enabled" and paste into Google or whatever you use, I use startpage.com
Start looking at the results and see what you find out.

I'm not a FaceBooker so I can't follow you on that one, but is your Firefox up to date?

I thought that I had this already in here but since I can't find it, I'll post it again.

Firefox is alot safer for cruising the web these days as it has a large variety of addons to reduce spam and various hacker attacks. If you already have Firefox running, hit Ctrl+Shift+A at the same time to enter the add-ons section.

Useful plugins for Firefox

• BetterPrivacy (Removes persistent cookies from flash stuff >> *.sol)
• AdBlock Plus (blocks Ads)
• Element Hider for Adblock Plus
• TACO (More adblocking)
• WorldIP (know your country, know your rights)
• Flagfox
• GoogleSharing (GoogleProxy, i use it because Google is censored where i live, anonymizes the
search) - Scroogle.org is also a very viable (and worthwhile) alternative
• User Agent Switcher: Sends bogus browser identity to servers
• Optimize google: Allows to block loads of scum google uses to track searchs.
https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere : automatically loads https on a site if avaliable.
• Scroogle SSL search (Google anonymously): https://ssl.scroogle.org

I gave up and got a new puter in the end.
So far so good. Leaning a new windows system is something else. lol

I have downloaded ABP first thing off.... way to much garbage out there not to have it.

I did a search on it and kept getting many different results..none of which I wanted to try.

First thing to do with the new Windows 8 machine is to remove all the bloatware. Most companys have some but Acer is the worst at it so far that I've seen. I charge 2 hours labour on new machines to do the following listed below that you can simply do yourself.

1. Go into control panel and add/remove programs.
2. Select anything that is "free" as they will pollute the computer and allow in other nasty programs too.
3. If in doubt, punch it up on the web to see if it is necessary or not.
4. Remove all optimization programs, media programs and any "no name" virus programs.
5. Remove all "cloud" programs that include backup software connection help utilities.
6. Remove such free 90 day demos as they too clutter your system's registry and cease to work shortly thereafter.

When you have this all done, then you can start installing that which you want on such as printers, etc. When installing software, read all areas that have check boxes as they usually need unchecking or you will get more bloatware or spam. This eventually leads to Trojans that allow in the viruses. Avoid all toolbar programs as they are ALL BAD!

When your done doing all this, see if it took you 2 hours as it does me (and I know what I'm doing) as I do this almost every day. And delete the help line that they include as it too is a scam and they expect you to call them when THEIR junk bags out your new computer!
